The Baltimore Ravens strengthened their scouting department by adding two veterans to their already successful team of football talent evaluators.
Lonnie Young, who spent 12 years in the NFL as a safety, compiling 720 tackles in 150 career games, joins the Ravens as a West area scout. A 1985 draft pick by the St. Louis Cardinals, Young spent the past five seasons scouting collegiate players in the western half of the country for the Arizona Cardinals.
The Ravens also signed longtime college coach Jack Glowik to the scouting roster. Glowik spent the previous three seasons with the Miami Dolphins scouting players in the mid-central area of the country.
“We’re excited to welcome Lonnie and Jack into the Ravens family. Both come highly recommended and bring impressive resumes,†said Ravens director of college scouting Eric DeCosta. “Lonnie’s background as a veteran NFL player, and Jack’s history as an outstanding longtime college coach will provide us with different perspectives that make us stronger as a staff.â€
Baltimore also promoted Milt Hendrickson, who had been with the team as a player personnel assistant since 2005, to Midwest area scout and assigned a new area (Southeast) to Chad Alexander, who had scouted the Midwest for the team for the past three seasons.
“By promoting Milt, we’ve kept with a familiar theme of developing a young talent and getting him ready to scout an area,†explained DeCosta. “Milt is a fine addition on the road, and he’s already proven he’s up to the task. His move to the Midwest allows us to shift [area scout] Chad Alexander to the Southeast. In the end, we’ve improved our ability to evaluate the college players.â€
