NFL Draft Ravens looking to turn up heat on opposing QB’s

Georgia Tech’s Derrick Morgan is arguably the most NFL ready pass rusher in the 2010 NFL Draft class. A quick Google search of “2010 NFL Mock Draft” produced 10 separate links on the first page. Knowing that the Ravens clearly need to improve their pass rush I checked to see where the “mockers” had Morgan landing on average.

The earliest Morgan was predicted to go was No. 9 to the Buffalo Bills. Surprisingly NFL Draft Dog projects Morgan as the last pick on Thursday, April 22nd, going to Super Bowl Champs the New Orleans Saints. Twice Morgan was pegged for the Jaguars at No. 10 and twice he was slotted in at No. 14 for the Seattle Seahawks.

The mean choice for Morgan was pick No. 14 so if you put any stock in the mocks, chances are the Yellow Jacket won’t be available for the Ravens at No. 25.

But then again, no one thought Michael Oher would slip to No. 23 in 2009.

Our NFL Draft site partner Draft Breakdown thinks that Morgan will be too irresistible for Jacksonville’s Jack Del Rio. Here’s how they’ve ranked the Top 36 defensive ends eligible for the 2010 NFL Draft along with a scouting report on Derrick Morgan.

But don’t tell anyone about Morgan… ~ Tony Lombardi
