CAMP NOTES: One-on-One Battles

Camp Notes CAMP NOTES: One-on-One Battles

From time to time throughout camp we will post the results of one-on-one matchups as well as the results of the 2 minute offense. This can be fast and furious at times and from the vantage point given to the media, it is very difficult to be 100% precise with the yard markings.

Back when camp was held in Westminster, the media could traverse the sideline and follow the play from the line of scrimmage. Now that there are roped off areas for fans we are no longer able to be quite as accurate and consequently you may see some minor inconsistencies between what is reported here and what you may read elsewhere.

With that said, let’s set the stage…

During the one-on-one battles defensive backs (generally corners) go head to head against wide receivers. The quarterbacks are under no duress at all…think Mississippi 1, Mississippi 2, etc. So clearly the offensive players have a distinct advantage. Any batted down balls are the result of VERY good coverage and interceptions are rather rare.
