Fantasy Week 4 fantasy news, notes, and sleepers

Posted in Fantasy

Panthers at Falcons – Although he had fewer snaps than Jacquizz Rodgers last week, running back Michael Turner is still a must start. In his last 5 games against the Panthers Turner has averaged almost 100 yards and one score a game.

Patriots at Bills – Running back Fred Jackson is back but keep him on your bench; the Patriot run defense is one of the most improved in football, allowing just 3.5 yards a carry.

Vikings at Lions -Vikings WR Jerome Simpson comes back from suspension and Christian Ponder will be throwing to him, as the Lion pass defense is vulnerable at best.

Chargers at Chiefs – Chargers wide receiver Malcom Floyd has scored twenty-one career touchdowns, and a half dozen have come against the Chiefs.

49ers at Jets – Jets wide receiver Jeremy Kerley has a good match up against an overrated San Francisco pass defense.

Titans at Houston – Titans pass defense appears to be like a Houston Oiler pass defense from the wide open AFL days, as they have the 30th ranked pass defense, and quarterback Matt Schaub, considered by most to be a bench fantasy quarterback will be near the top for all quarterbacks in fantasy statistics for week 4.

Dolphins at Cardinals – With running back Chris Wells being placed on injured reserve, Ryan Williams will get most of the touches and the goal line carries.

Bengals at Jaguars – The Jaguars are allowing more than sixty yards a game to TE’s, and Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham scored against them in a 30-20 victory in 2011, so he should be active Sunday.

Raiders at Broncos – Raiders wide receiver Rod Steator is a good play against a Bronco pass defense that has allowed 8 scoring throws.

Saints at Packers – The Saints are last against the run, allowing 215 yards a game, worse than their 1-15 1980 team. If you want a deep sleeper this week,  it is Packers running back John Kuhn. He scores a few touchdowns a year, he should find some room Sunday.

Redskins at Buccaneers – Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Williams has scored in two game this year, while the Redskins have allowed at least 10 fantasy points to each of the six starting wide receivers they have faced this year.

Giants at Eagles -The Giants are 22nd against the pass allowing 262 yards a game, so the Eagles passing game should rebound some this week. Start wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.

Bears at Cowboys – On paper this is a bad match up for the Bears passing game, but TE Kellen Davis should be open off of play action as the Bears have shown the tendency to run in almost every short yardage situation this year. Offenses have to change trends to keep defenses honest, so Davis should see some goal line throws.

About Kurt Backert

Kurt's passion for the game began in the 60's watching the Colts on TV and at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore. He began following the statistics of not only his beloved Colts but also those of the Colts opponents, with a keen eye on Vince Lombardi's Packers. His thirst for and attention to statistical detail would eventually lead Kurt on a journey to the world of fantasy football in the late 1980's where he's captured more titles than John Wooden's UCLA Bruins   Kurt carries a distinction that no other fan of the NFL can boast about.  He is the reigning NFL National Trivia Champion and he credits his Dad for passing on such passion for the game, something Kurt also hopes to pass along to his 9-year-old son.
