As the Ravens resumed practice following their bye week, not everyone was there and it wasn’t for the usual reasons. Hurricane Sandy’s arrival to the east coast has shut down most public transportation.

John Harbaugh’s Monday press conference was reduced to a conference call out of concern for safety of those traveling, and during the call, Harbaugh said that three players were unable to make it to Baltimore. He didn’t mention the names of the specific players who were stranded.

The cancellation of flights at BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport has forced some players to get creative in order to make it back in time for today’s practice.

Harbaugh mentioned that Terrell Suggs was away on vacation and eventually flew into Raleigh, N.C. and drove five-hours back to Baltimore.

The three players absent from practice today aren’t expected to miss any more time. Tuesday is an off day for players and flights should resume in time to have them make other arrangements to get back into Baltimore by Wednesday’s practice.

As for the rest of the preparations for Sunday’s game against the Browns, the storm shouldn’t affect the Ravens. Harbaugh said that Monday and Tuesday are crucial days for his planning and the Under Armour Performance Center has a big backup generator in case they lose power.

Even though most Marylanders’ work schedules are being affected by Hurricane Sandy, it’s business as usual if you work from a place known as “The Castle”.

There just may be a newly-placed moat outside.
