Less a month ago, the Baltimore Ravens were the 2nd seed in the AFC, and looked to be a large threat to the rest of the league. Now, the Ravens have dropped to the 4th seed and are seen by many as the worst playoff team this year.
The Ravens are in deep trouble. The offense is imploding and the defense can’t stop a nosebleed. They haven’t just lost games, but they’ve been completely manhandled and quite frankly, embarrassed. The defense has been torn apart by a 38-year old backup, two rookies, and pretty much any running back that gets his hands on the ball.
Injuries, particularly on the defense, have completely torn a former Super Bowl contender apart. The linebacking corps is in shambles at the moment. The Ravens are without Ray Lewis, Jameel McClain, and Dannell Ellerbe, and Terrell Suggs has been playing through immense pain for the majority of the season.
The offense has been inconsistent all year long. The offensive line has been dodging the blame that they deserve as the blunt of it is being put on Joe Flacco. The blocking has been absolutely terrible and Flacco has little to no protection while Ray Rice has little to no space to get up field. The line is getting beaten badly in the trenches and look like they’re playing on roller skates at times.
There are simply too many issues to even count them all. Whatever they are, the Ravens need to get them taken care of and quickly. The Ravens may be in the playoffs, but they could be out in just one game if they continue playing like they have.
At this point, the need to into some sort of rhythm or his season will be over in two more weeks. Their momentum is going backwards and they desperately need a win before the season ends. While they can still lose out and win the AFC North, it’s imperative that they get a decisive win before the playoffs to convince both the fans and players that they can still make something happen in January.
