Everyone has made their opinions known as to what they believe the 70-yard TD pass with less than a minute to go in the AFC Divisional win against the Denver Broncos should be called. It needs something catchy. It needs something people will never forget. The Ravens have never really been a team that has a nickname. But we can change that.
I think with everything the Baltimore Ravens had to endure last week, from everyone in the national media saying the Ravens had no chance to win, to all the heckling from Denver Bronco fans, the win and the play were just that much sweeter. It needs a definite and powerful word to get the point across that Flacco shut everyone up.
Looking back at that play, I’m still not surprised it happened. Maybe it was because I was so sure the Ravens were going to win. It felt like no other game to me. In the past, I may have been down on the team with a few minutes left.
Not this time.
This time I just looked at the game and said to myself, “This isn’t Ray’s last game. He’s not going out like that.” Surely, he did not. When that play happened, I just watched and said “alright, it’s a new game.” I was happy, but not jumping out of my seat.
The best part of that game was Justin Tucker making that field goal. The game was over. In professional sports, nothing feels better – other than winning a championship – than winning on the road in an NFL playoff game. It’s the team against the world, representing their home state and watching the rest of America in shock when they pull out a victory.
With all that said, considering everything the Ravens went through and the adversity they had to endure this season and last year, it is only fitting that Joe Flacco’s touchdown pass to Jacoby Jones should be called, “The F bomb.”
