You know, I’m proud of myself. When the Ravens were on a three game losing streak in December, I wrote an article saying the Ravens were a sleeping giant and will win the Super Bowl. I feel good.
What the Baltimore Ravens have done in their route for a second Super Bowl win is made a legacy for themselves in this era of football. When the Ravens won their first one, they were already in history. But when you win one, others – rightly or wrongly – look at it as a fluke that can never be done again…especially when the press has done nothing but talk about the Steelers as the class of the division. The Ravens don’t have to worry about that anymore.
Whenever someone looks at the Ravens as the Steelers’ little brother, just flash the rings. Since 2000, the Ravens are one of four teams with multiple super bowl wins as well as 10+ playoff wins.
Patriots – 17 playoff wins, 3 rings
Ravens – 14, 2
Steelers – 12, 2
Giants – 10, 2
The Ravens have been among the elite for quite some time before the win; now all they have done is put an exclamation point on it.
Furthermore, the Ravens are one of five teams in the NFL since 2000 to make the playoffs at least nine times.
Colts – 12 playoff appearancess
Eagles – 10
Patriots – 10
Ravens – 9
Packers – 9
The Ravens have a bright future with Ray Rice and Joe Flacco leading the way. They are the only team in the NFL that has made the playoffs the last five years. They are without a doubt the most accomplished NFL team over that time frame.
Now that the season is over, the Ravens are in position for another Super Bowl run with Ray Lewis leaving on a good note.
