This may not necessarily be news about the Ravens, but at a time where all that is bad in the world is highlighted, stories like this are too good to pass up.

Many Ravens fans had wide receiver Danny Amendola on their radar as a potential replacement for Anquan Boldin. Even though Amendola eventually signed with the New England Patriots, he’ll find that many Ravens fans may still cheer for his success based on his good gesture made via Twitter in the wake of the Boston Marathon Bombing.

Amendola has pledged to donate money each time a ball is thrown this way this season.

The gesture is one that is sure to have Patriots fans welcoming Wes Welker’s replacement into Beantown with open arms.

Athletes are often criticized for the amount of money they are paid to play a game. Even though Amendola signed a $31 million contract, it’s great to see that he is going to be giving some of that money back to those that he’s never met, in the city that he just arrived in.

For the first four years of his NFL career, Amendola has been virtually irrelevant playing for bottom-dwelling St. Louis Rams. Now that he is in New England, Amendola will have a much higher profile, and hopefully his pledge introduces his name into more households.

… and for Ravens fans, now we have another reason to root for Pats’ receivers to drop passes because it generates more money for charity.
