We have known Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs to be a bit on the comedic side at times, to say the least. Fortunately, that is just his personality and not his work ethic. One thing Suggs does not do is take his profession lightly, or as a laughing matter.
Though Suggs did not have the season he hoped for in 2012 due to injury, his team accomplished the ultimate goal.
On the second day of mandatory mini-camp, Suggs was asked if he was a little frustrated last season about not reaching his full potential.
“Yes, you do want to do good personally, but the overall goal is that the team wins,” Suggs responded. “In the end it [worked] really good in our favor.”
It sure did work out really well for the Ravens. And don’t get me wrong – the guy was injured badly most of the season last year, but he still performed when it mattered.
Now that Suggs has a Super Bowl ring, and coming off of a major injury last year, you would think he might take it easy and work his way back slowly this offseason, right?
Not the case for this guy.
“The goal was to train so that you can be the best player for your team, for your organization and for a city that’s given you so much. I would have to say that the organization and the fans have really been patient with me, especially coming off an injury. So, I really wanted to show them the player that I really am.”
With a healthy Terrell Suggs focused and working hard, one has to wonder if he will be a candidate for another AP Defensive Player of the Year award in the 2013 season.
Until kickoff in Denver, Sizzle needs to keep his focus on his goals, and stay in great shape so that he can bring both the DPOY award and the Lombardi Trophy back to Baltimore, again!
