The news was once again not-so-good for the Ravens on Friday as the official game status injury reports were unveiled. While the Texans’ have a much lengthier list than does Baltimore (16 players listed vs. 8), the important detail isn’t the number of guys on the report, but rather, where they are listed.
While all but three of the 16 players on the Texans’ report are listed as Probable (with the other three being questionable), the Ravens, on the other hand, give only one player on their injury report even a 50/50 shot of playing – CB Chykie Brown (knee), listed as Questionable.
The Ravens list five players as Doubtful, including key contributor Chris Canty, rookie linebacker Arthur Brown, and superstar running back Ray Rice.
Since becoming the starting running back full-time at the start of the 2009 season, Rice has never missed a game, playing in all 76 games (including postseason). He has also started 43 straight regular season games, the longest current streak among NFL running backs. Though listed as doubtful, John Harbaugh says he considers #27 a “game-time decision.”
Bernard Pierce – you’re the next man up.
