Street Talk Ravens Sign Former Bengal Bernard Scott

Posted in Street Talk

On Monday, the Baltimore Ravens officially announced the signing of former Cincinnati running back Bernard Scott.

The signing of Scott now brings the Ravens roster to a full 53, filling the void the team had since trading Bryant McKinnie to the Miami Dolphins.

Scott, who played his entire career in Cincy was released this past offseason while trying to come back from a torn ACL which he suffered just five games into last season.

Baltimore has wanted to add depth to the running back position with the uncertainty of both Ray Rice’s and Bernard Pierce’s health as of late. Scott’s best year came in 2011 when he ran 112 times for 380 yards. While his stats certainly aren’t eye-catching, he also provides depth to the Ravens special teams. During his tenure in Cincinnati, Scott had 73 career returns for 1,787 yards and one touchdown.

It would not be out of the question to see Scott on the field Sunday if Bernard Pierce’s hamstring continues to hamper him.

While the signing of Scott provides the Ravens with another option in the backfield, it very well could be for naught if the team can’t fix the offensive line problems.
