I love my Ravens and will cheer them on, even if they were 0-15. But today’s game was just another example of the struggles this team has. They have moments of greatness and then in the next moment, they will look just awful.
The Ravens have had 5 losses by a total of 17 points. They’d had 6 games decided by 3 points or less, and have lost 4 of them. In other years, they Ravens win the close games… not this year.
This team had some really nice drives in terrible weather and field conditions today, but they just couldn’t finish the job. Flacco’s turnovers were crucial as the Ravens were in control of the game at the time of each of the turnovers. Each turnover resulted in Chicago points.
We all thought that if the Ravens could run, today would be the day to show it, as the Bears have an awful run defense. The Ravens did well, and most of that was from great blocking by the offensive line. But when they needed it most, in the Red Zone in the 4th quarter, they just couldn’t get the job done.
At 4-6, and in a 3-way tie for 2nd place in the AFC North, the Ravens still are alive for the playoffs because after the Top 5 AFC teams, everyone is 5-5 or 4-6. That only helps the Ravens. They are struggling, but so is everyone else. With only the top 6 teams in the AFC making the playoffs, the Ravens will battle with the likes of Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Oakland, San Diego, and the Jets… none of which are on a roll.
With 4 home games left the Ravens could still squeak in the playoffs. But they will need to sweep their remaining home games as well as a road game at Cincinnati… which is a must-win.
It’s hard to believe, but as bad as this season has been… at 4-6, the Ravens are not out of it yet.
