The big news around Baltimore Wednesday was that tight end Dennis Pitta returned to practice for the first time since breaking his hip in training camp last August.
“It feels awesome to be able to get back and be in meetings with the guys and be able to hit the field a little bit,” Pitta told BR.com’s Garrett Downing. “I feel great. I’m going to take it slow though and make sure I can integrate myself back in, and I’m feeling good.”
Ravens fans shouldn’t get too excited about any potential return for Pitta just yet, though. The team has three weeks to decide whether or not to put Pitta on the active roster this season. That decision will likely depend heavily on how these next few games go for the Ravens, and if they have anything to play for down the stretch. Even if he does return, the question of how effective he will be certainly remains.
Note that you won’t see Pitta on the practice injury report below, since he is not currently on the active roster.
A guy whose status is much more uncertain for Sunday’s game against the Jets is Haloti Ngata. Ngata injured his knee two weeks ago against Cincinnati, but returned to action that day. He did not play in Chicago, which was probably a smart move considering the field conditions, but it was obvious that the defense missed him at times. Ngata was again listed as a non-participant, as he was all of last week. He was the only non-participant for Baltimore.
Marlon Brown returned to practice after missing the Bears game.
Here are the full injury reports for both teams following Wednesday’s practices:
