We hear Ravens head coach John Harbaugh tell us after every loss how the team has to get better and they will work to do exactly that.

He uses words like “adversity” and “accountability” when discussing issues confronting the team and obstacles preventing wins.

During the Ravens at Bears contest last week, many fans and observers of the team viewed the threatening Chicago weather as an inconvenience preventing the continuation of the game. Some folks on Facebook who suggested that the game be postponed were scoffed at.

“This is football – weather doesn’t stop football.”

Maybe it should but that’s a topic for another day.

Today I want to share with you a story courtesy of BaltimoreRavens.com about a family of Ravens fans living in the Chicago area that lost their home during the storm. They maintain their resolve and stare adversity in the face determined to overcome it.

Maybe the weather didn’t stop football completely that day but it nearly ended lives. Here’s the story of the resilient Burhoe Family and an eery survivor that matches up nicely with the determined Harbaugh’s weekly choice of words.
