Owners of a 5-6 record heading into week 13, the Ravens wasted no time hitting the practice field in preparation for their Thanksgiving night showdown with the Steelers.

“It’s an honor to play on Thanksgiving,” head coach John Harbaugh stated when asked about playing on the holiday. “I think it’s most guys’ favorite holiday isn’t it? To get a chance to play on Thanksgiving night in front of the whole country with a rivalry such as this in Baltimore is an honor,” Harbs went on to add.

After handling the Jets on Sunday, the Ravens once again find themselves in a do or die situation in the division against their familiar foes on a short week.

“We are excited about it,” Harbaugh remaked. “It’s a big challenge for us. We have a lot at stake.”

A game such as this one that has serious playoff ramifications – let alone on a short week – certainly is a challenge for the players, both mentally and physically.

“Physically, we have to get back,” said Harbaugh when asked about the short week. “The turnaround is quick. It was a physical football game we were in, so we have to get our guys back and ready to play another physical game.”

Under Harbaugh, the Ravens have a 7-1 record in prime time home games and and a 1-0 record on Thanksgiving.

“For our fans to get a game like this, this is the second time in three years now we’ve had a Thanksgiving night game, so if any point in time the NFL and Roger wants to make this a tradition I think we would all enjoy that,” Harbaugh added.

I happen to agree coach. It would a great thing for the City of Baltimore and the fans. Besides, what better way to end the holiday than to make the Steelers eat some crow?

Would you like the Thanksgiving Night Game to become a Baltimore tradition?

As a season ticket holder, it's a bit of a hassle getting semi-ripped off from one of the better meals of the year but it would be worth the trade off to establish the late game as a baltimore tradition.. For fans, a whole slate of 1pm games is the best because you get better weather for late season games, the opportunity to catch more football on TV and no late nights heading into work BUT a slate like that equals a nationally overlooked team..................so i guess it's always nice, especially for those who remember the marchibroda years when the ravens were either ignored or disliked...............essentially irrelevant.
