The Baltimore Ravens have filled one of the two remaining openings on their coaching staff.
A source confirmed for RSR that the Ravens hired Wisconsin running backs coach Thomas Hammock Wednesday to be their running backs coach, as was first reported by Coachingsearch.com.
Hammock replaces Wilbert Montgomery, who Baltimore fired in January.
Hammock, who was a two-time 1,000 yard running back as a player at Northern Illinois, had been with Wisconsin since 2011 after also coaching the running backs at Northern Illinois (2005-06) and Minnesota (2007-10).
Without saying where Hammock was going, Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen addressed Hammock’s pending departure at the team’s National Signing Day news conference Wednesday afternoon.
“What Thomas has done is, on the football field, you all know,” Andersen told reporters. “ He’s had some very talented players, and he’s made them very good football players. He’s been a big part of making them good football players.
“He’s a tremendous communicator. He’s been a big part of the offense.”
