Should the Ravens pursue inside linebacker D’Qwell Jackson, who was cut by the Browns on Wednesday? ProFootballTalk.com listed the Ravens as one of a dozen potential suitors for Jackson. The Broncos, Titans, and Bears were listed as the top three, but the Ravens were mentioned as a possible destination. The Browns cut Jackson after electing not to pay a $4 million roster bonus he was due March 16.

Here are five reasons why it would make sense for Jackson to be on the Ravens’ radar.

1. The Ravens could lose inside linebacker Daryl Smith in free agency. Jackson is 30 years old, younger than Smith, who will turn 32 on March 14.

2. The Ravens are very familiar with Jackson, competing against him for eight seasons in the AFC North. Just like Smith, Jackson is a sure-tackling veteran leader.

3. Jackson played at the University of Maryland, and may want to return to the area.

4. Jackson fits the profile of free agents that the Ravens usually sign – proven veterans that have been roster cuts. Elvis Dumervil came to the Ravens that way last season.

5. Jackson told Northeast Ohio Media Group, “I’m looking for a place that has some type of stability.’’ John Harbaugh has been the Ravens’ coach for six seasons, and general manager Ozzie Newsome joined the organization in 1996. That is far more stable than the Browns.

Dan, programming note... Kyle Casey will be doing a Tale of the Tape on D'Qwell early next week.

This analysis lacks any reference to Jackson's on-field ability. He current repertoire of skills should keep the Ravens away.

I find it always funny when these guys say they are looking for stability sure they are but most importantly they are looking for the most Benjamans$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ But yes he would be a really nice pick up either him or Smith would do maybe not both with A.Brown needing his chance to shine. Besides, as I pointed out in another post most of the cap money has to go on Offense I would think.

If he comes to Baltimore, I'm pretty sure he won't be wearing #52.
