Owner Steve Bisciotti clearly expects John Harbaugh to be the Ravens coach for a long time. Bisciotti told reporters at the NFL owners meeting Monday that he gave Harbaugh a one-year extension last month, added to the three-year extension Harbaugh already received last year.

That means Harbaugh is under contract through 2017.

Anyone who thought Bisciotti had begun to waver on Harbaugh? Forget it. Despite coming off an 8-8 season, Bisciotti still believes strongly in his head coach, for next season, and for the long haul.

Harbaugh’s resume is very impressive. He has a Super Bowl victory, two division championships, five playoff appearances in six seasons, and a 9-4 postseason record. Now Bisciotti expects more success from Harbaugh.
The Ravens’ organization was stung by last season from top to bottom.

More on Harbaugh’s extension here…

Do you agree with Steve Bisciotti's decision to extend John Harbaugh thru 2017 instead of just 2016?

Dumb move. No benefit for the Ravens yet they incur all the costs. He was already under contract for three more years. Must have Terrell Suggs' agent.

What costs are you referring to? Harbaugh's salary does not interact with any of the teams salaries against the salary cap so how does that hurt the team. He's lead the team to 5 of 6 post season experiences within his time line. Yes, he makes some questionable calls on the field in regards to challenges but neither you or I are there in that position to make a similar call.

On a cost-benefit basis the extra year will cost the team more if he is fired. No upside, he could be extended much further down the line. Something else must be going on here. Perhaps Bisciotti likes to sing, "Yes, I'm the Great Extender..."
