Ravens provide sunshine on a rainy day
When one considers the legacy of the Ravens organization thoughts often drift towards the outstanding football players they have fielded since their inception in 1996.
Just 24 hours prior to the 2014 NFL Draft, one of the biggest events in football set to take place at Radio City Music Hall, several members of the organization were out in full-force in the community assisting the Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake.
On Wednesday, Regina Sykes, Debessa Layew and Roxanna Key, all Baltimore natives, were presented keys to three brand new row homes in the community near M&T Bank Stadium.
The initiative which was funded by the by the Ravens Foundation and continually works to help make Baltimore a better community, was constructed by Habitat Chesapeake over the last 11 months.
“It has been an honor partnering with so many dedicated people throughout this project,” Ravens president Dick Cass stated in a press release by the team.
“This is important not just for the Ravens and Habitat for Humanity, but for the entire city of Baltimore. It is exciting to see everyone join together and help our community build for the future.”
Along with Cass, several Ravens players including Morgan Cox, Gino Gradkowski, Torrey Smith, Tyrod Taylor, Justin Tucker and Brandon Williams and coaches including front office members also assisted in the building of the new homes.
It’s a refreshing sight to see how much an organization like the Ravens cares so much about the city they call home and its people. The community outreach they provide means so much to those who need it most and is ultimately second to none.
