Salary Cap Breakdown of The Baltimore Ravens Rookie Contracts

With the advent of the new rookie wage scale contained in the NFL’s 2011 CBA, much of the mystery of rookie contracts have been removed. With the new system largely being a slotted system, signings are happening much quicker and holdouts are few and far in between.

Also, with the overall league Salary Cap having increased at such a minimal case, players are receiving the same Signing Bonus as the player taken with the same pick in the prior year’s draft.

The following is a breakdown of the contracts of the Ravens’ 2014 draft class (there is a little leeway in the base salaries of the top3 picks, so while the total value is unlikely to change, the breakdown of the base salaries is still TBD):

FIRST ROUND: LB CJ Mosley

First Round Pick, CJ Mosley, will sign a 4-year deal worth $8,787,996, with a Signing Bonus of $4,711,272. The terms of the CBA allow teams a 5th Year Option for 1st round picks to be exercised by early May of the players 4th year.

Undrafted Free Agents:

So far, the Ravens have signed 18 UDFAs. For 2014, each team has a limit of $80,362 to spend on signing bonus for its UDFAs. It is at the team’s discretion how it chooses to spread that amount out amongst its UDFAs. Presently, the Ravens have used $75,000 of that allotment.
