The Ravens made several roster moves to get down to the mandated 53-man roster.

Placed the following player on Physically Unable to Perform list:

  • DT Terrence Cody

Placed the following player on Injured Reserve:

  • WR Jeremy Butler

Waived the following players:

T Parker Graham; CB Tramain Jacobs; OL Ryan Jensen; DT Jamie Meder; DT AJ Pataiali’i; CB Sammy Seamster; G/C AQ Shipley; OLB John Simon; TE Phillip Supernaw; RB Fitzgerald Toussaint; QB Keith Wenning

Terminated the contract of the following vested veterans:

  • CB Derek Cox
  • CB Dominque Franks

RAVENS 53 MAN ROSTER

You will see from the link above that the Ravens have only 4 cornerbacks on their roster. Given that one is named Chykie Brown and the other three missed significant amounts of time due to injury during the preseason it would be a shock to see them not add another corner before kickoff against the Bengals on Sunday, September 7 at 1 PM (4:50PM).

In the " pick the team " contest I had 51 correct, leaving out only Orr and McClelland. On previous posts I said it was time to cut Shipley and Jensen and keep John Hurst who will end up starting at right tackle as the season goes on. Also no reason to cut any of our receivers right now with the suspensions and injuries. Butler to IR was the right move since Aikens wasn't PS -eligible. Once Rice activates Forsett is gone, barring injuries. Having Toussaint on the PS is a blessing. We have 6 weeks to see which CB or Safety to release when Hill activates. Jacobs can move up if there are any significant injuries in the secondary. Having Simon ready to go is a nice luxury if there any injuries to the defensive front. We only needed to keep the 5 defensive lineman because of McPhee's versatility. This is the deepest and most complete Raven team I can remember. It wouldn't surprise me if Ozzie brought in a quality offensive lineman and let Orr go. That's the trade I think he's working on. OR it might be prudent to try and get a quality CB/Safety for Jacoby Jones and/or Marlon Brown.

Keeping all the WRs and LBs on the 53 means other teams can't pick up guys like Aiken, Bynes, McClellan and Thompson without giving us a pick or a player they don't need. It also give us a week to find another "injured" player for IR. I don''t believe we will start the season with 7 WRs.

RAVENS ARE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TRADE FOR A CORNERBACK NOT ONLY ONE ON THE WAIVERS USING WR SURPLUS IN THE DEAL. ALL PLAYERS IN THE NFL CLEAR WAIVERS AT 5PM SUNDAY AS TONY STATED BUT WE WON'T KNOW WHAT TEAMS PUT IN CLAIMS FOR ANY OF THESE PLAYERS LIKELY TO LATE SUNDAY OR MONDAY UNLESS ONLY ONE TEAM CLAIMS A PLAYER.. THESE CLAIMS ARE HANDLED BY THE STANDINGS FINISH FROM LAST YEAR WHEN A PLAYER IS REWARDED TO A TEAM.

Some sort of move/transaction is coming, has to be. I'm perplexed on the restructuring of Webb's contract thus far.

7 WR's 6 Safeties 4 CB's hmmmm. Deonte, Campanaro, Aiken are still not safe. Neither is a few of those safeties.

Tony, how in the hell does Jah Reid stay on the roster. Must be blackmailing Ozzie or Harbaugh. That is the only thing that makes sense

The pickings league wide at corner are slim, and right player right price still applies. It might be more prudent to sit on the cap space, and wait for a quality player to become available. Right now, every team is a contender.
