The Broncos success in 2015 is rooted in good defense and establishing the run, something the Ravens could learn and borrow from. Press play for more or read the transcript below…

If the Denver Broncos are to win Super Bowl 50, it will be because of their outstanding defense but more importantly a future Hall of Famer that has adapted his game to his age and the makeup and style of his team.

Peyton Manning has made a living putting up gaudy passing stats and will go down as one of the best of all time. Yet if he is to win another trophy he will rely on defense, a heavy dose of the ground game and occasional big plays in the passing game.

Playing field position, throwing it away, three and outs and punting are foreign phrases to Manning. Yet he has learned since coming back from injury, that this is the way it has to be at times in order to win.

As this all relates to the Ravens, remember this as the team continues to reconstruct the roster. Yes the team needs playmakers no doubt but this game is another great example that most teams that make the Super Bowl have very good defenses and solid run games. Yes, Denver has two of the best receivers in the league in DeMaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders yet neither was the reason the Broncos defeated the Steelers or the Patriots.

The 2012 Ravens Super Bowl win was a great representation that the team has evolved to a more balanced approach to bring the offense more in line with the defense. However there is only so much money to go around with the salary cap and tough decisions have to be made. So don’t get fooled in the so called new NFL, despite all the high flying passing jinx, there is still a place for old school football to be successful in this league.

If you don’t believe me, ironically enough, just ask Peyton Manning.
