His career as a Raven has been a great one so far but coming off a second Achilles tear how will he perform going forward? What is in the future for Terrell Suggs?

Press play for more or read the transcript below.

Several of the Ravens big names have big question marks next to them heading into training camp. Joe Flacco is coming off ACL surgery. Steve Smith, Sr. is trying to recover from an Achilles tear and the same for Terrell Suggs.

We may not see any of these players set foot on a preseason field this summer and chances are that’s ok. And while no one questions Flacco’s or Smith’s conditioning, there is some concern about T-Sizzle. Will he be the lean and mean Pro Bowler or the Ravens answer to the Pillsbury Dough Boy? We have seen both from Suggs while awaiting his arrival at training camp.

Suggs will turn 34 one month into the season, his 14th as a Raven. Players don’t get faster or more explosive as they age and other than just blind faith, there’s very little reason to think that an aging player who has been known to show up out of shape – one recovering from a second Achilles tear, can be the player that he once was.

But that won’t diminish his quest for a bust in Canton. His numbers, his achievements suggest he could make it into the Hall of Fame one day. And that acceptance speech, what a doozy that will be!

As for what Suggs will accomplish this season, expect a slow start with a limited snap count early on. With the newly acquired talent to rush the passer Suggs will get an opportunity to preserve his body a bit with the hope that he’ll be stronger at season’s end. And really that’s an ideal scenario provided the youngsters step up. But the scenario is likely to limit Suggs’ productivity.

I look for a 5-7-sack swansong season from the 6-time Pro Bowler, as he closes out what will one day prove to be a Hall of Fame career.
