Don’t Say “Go Patriots” to Steve Smith

Steve Smith has a reputation as one of the toughest players in the NFL, and he’s earned it, never taking any crap from anybody during his 15-year (and counting) professional career. So either this kid didn’t know who he was messing with, or he’s just in training to be every bit as fearless as Steve himself.

“Go Patriots.” Seriously, kid?

I gotta hand it to him as far as being a brave little guy goes. When it comes to being smart, though? He needs to work on that part of his game. Junior there is probably lucky that there was a camera on Steve when he heard that nonsense, as he looked like he was just about ready to teach the little tyke some manners.

Smith, of course, is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon that limited him to only seven games in 2015. It was the fewest games he had played in since back in 2004, when he suited up only once. He played in at least 14 games in every other season in his career.

The Ravens are counting on him to be back to his usual reliable self in 2016, and to help lead their wide receiver corps, which they also hope will include Breshad Perriman. Smith had developed a nice rapport with quarterback Joe Flacco in 2014 and until his injury in 2015, hauling in 125 passes for 1735 yards and nine touchdowns in the two regular seasons combined. 2014’s numbers were highs for Smith in receptions and scores since 2011, and in yards since 2012.

Perriman suffered a scare a couple weeks ago when initial reports said that he had torn the ACL in his knee, but fortunately that turned out to not be the case.

We’re glad that Steve decided to let this kid’s misstep slide, this time around. And hey, at least the little bugger didn’t say “Go Steelers,” right?
