About Kris Jones

Kris Jones

Kris - or "Goob" as he's widely known - has turned an obsession into a career. As a media member by day and super fan by night, he reports from the Under Armour Performance Center twice per week and brings Ravens news from a fan's perspective. His popular YouTube series Goobvision propelled his career and notoriety amongst Ravens fans, even helping him win the 2010 nationwide DIRECTV Ultimate Displaced Fan contest. He's been featured on shows such as The Jim Rome Show, ProFootballTalk Live, The Sirius XM Blitz with Rich Gannon and Adam Schein, Sirius XM's MadDog Radio, The Michael Irvin Show, Tony Bruno Show, Two Live Stews and FoxSports.com to name a few (or is that a lot?). He's caught a touchdown pass from Warren Moon during a flag football game and hates the Pittsburgh Steelers more than anyone else on the face of the earth. Twitter: RavenManiac

B-Mac dropped the Big Mac’s After being held out of practice yesterday due to weight concerns, left tackle Bryant McKinnie joined his teammates for the second full day of training camp. McKinnie had agreed when he re-signed with the Ravens to play lighter than his 2012 playing weight of 352 pounds. As you can see in the picture below, for a 6-8 athlete that doesn’t play in the NBA, McKinnie doesn’t look that bad. Secondary Standouts Ravens fans were pleasantly surprised with cornerback Corey Graham’s contributions last season in the...

Harbaugh Mum On Vonta Leach’s Return

vonta_leach_21_med
A report from the Newark Star Ledger claimed that former Ravens fullback Vonta Leach would make a decision on which team he would play for by Friday. The report also said that he was leaning towards the Ravens. Following Friday’s training camp practice, I asked head coach John Harbaugh if he had heard anything from his former fullback. “I don’t know where that came from,” Harbaugh said, refuting the report. “We have no update, nothing new on that.” Unless a mystery team has emerged, Leach doesn’t appear to have any...

Harbaugh: Simon “not an MLB type of guy”

olbs
In March, plenty of questions surrounded the Ravens pass rush. Fast-forward almost five months, and on paper, the Ravens have arguably one of the best pass rushes in the NFL. After tearing his Achilles and biceps last year, Terrell Suggs has transformed not only his body, but his attidude. The 2011 Defensive Player of the year reported to camp more mature and “100 percent” physically, as he stated on Wednesday. The loss of Paul Kruger and his nine sacks during the regular season (15.5 total) was addressed when one of ...

Former Steeler fan John Simon “burned” his Terrible Towel

John Simon
There are many die-hard sports fans out there, but few and far between actually possess the talent to have a chance to professionally play for their favorite franchise. On the flip side, that means they also have the chance to play for someone they grew up rooting against for most of their childhood. This is the story of John Simon, a fourth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens and childhood Pittsburgh Steelers die-hard. “I really didn’t have a choice, I was born into it,” Simon said, trying his best to make...

Camp Notes: July 25 – Jacoby “Got Game!”

joecamp1
Day 1: First full practice as a team. Today, the Ravens took the field at the Under Armour Performance Center as a team for the first time of training camp. With fans in attendance and children wearing NFL Play 60 shirts, it has started to look and feel like football season again. Coach Harbaugh’s Thoughts: “We had a great day. I can’t say that we practiced great. We practiced about like you’d expect to practice the first day of training camp as a full team,” he said. “We’ve got a...

Take the pledge: Boycott Skip Bayless

Screen Shot 2013-07-25 at 12.12.26 PM
Let’s face it, ESPN’s Skip Bayless is nothing but a troll. The Baltimore Ravens have Super Bowl rings to show for their efforts during the 2012 season. Bayless’ favorite target of criticism, quarterback Joe Flacco, has a Super Bowl MVP title, $120 million contract and a 2014 Corvette to show his importance to a franchise that can call themselves champions. Regardless of what the Ravens do on the field, Skip Bayless can’t keep his mouth shut, and the Ravens continue to make him eat crow. Unfortunately, during a time where...

Terrell Suggs “honored” to accept leadership role

suggsoscap
Either Terrell Suggs’ shirts are too small or one of the Ravens’ defensive leaders has shed some serious weight in exchange for lean muscle. Suggs, along with other veterans, reported to training camp on Wednesday at the Under Armour Performance Center in anticipation of kicking off their first training camp practice as a team on Thursday afternoon. Donning an Orioles ball cap, a determined Suggs addressed the media. “You’ve never won a Super Bowl during training camp, but you’ve certainly lost them,” Suggs said in regards to his preparation. Last...

Camp Notes: Harbaugh takes Ravens on a field trip

gettysburgctr
Early on Wednesday morning, the Ravens announced that their final practice for quarterbacks, rookies and injured players was cancelled for a team building exercise. The team packed into a bus and headed 41 miles north to historic Gettysburg, PA. Head Coach John Harbaugh is a history buff, often using historical references during his motivational speeches to his team and his press conferences throughout the season. The field trip was an attempt to inspire a group of predominatnly young players, and appears to have worked on at least one of the...

POINT: Vonta Leach is an Unnecessary Luxury

Leach Bailey
The Dolphins have made it clear they’re not signing free-agent fullback Vonta Leach prior to the start of training camp. The Giants only offered him a one-year deal at the veteran minimum ($925,000). In Baltimore, the Ravens have offered Leach a $2 million base salary with $1 million of incentives according to ESPN‘s Chris Mortensen. Apparently, the Ravens offer seems to be the best on the table, with Leach and the Dolphins never even discussing money according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. It seems wise for Leach to accept...

Training Camp Day 1

flaccocamp1
The dog days of summer are upon us and football season is back as training camp officially began on Tuesday. For the first two days of camp (Tuesday and Wednesday) rookies, quarterbacks and injured players were required to be present as the team worked out in shells during the first day of practice. Along with a few questionable absences of lower tier players, there were some other noteworthy participants in attendance. Lardarius Webb Rehabbing his second torn ACL in four seasons, cornerback Lardarius Webb was more than just a spectator...

Kyle Juszczyk: Browns fan turned Raven

Picture 20
When the Ravens drafted fullback Kyle Juszczyk out of Harvard in the fourth round (130th overall), life came full circle for a man who has always been surrounded by football. “Everywhere in Ohio, football is a way of life,” Juszczyk said when speaking of his hometown, Medina, which is 45 minutes from both Cleveland and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. “Friday nights, everyone is going to high school games. Saturday, everyone is watching the [Ohio State] Buckeyes, but where I’m at, everyone’s watching the Browns.” “So obviously, that made...

Ray Rice donates his time once again, and throws in a Super Bowl ring

Picture 19
This week, NFL franchises commence training camp and officially kick off the 2013 season. The league starts a new chapter, and hopes to turn the page on what has been a nightmare offseason of legal woes. A few bad apples have cast a negative light on the rest of NFL players, but fortunately there are members of the NFL brotherhood that refuse to let the bad choices of others spoil the bunch. As he prepares for a repeat run at a Super Bowl Championship, Ray Rice donated his time (and...

We want to hear from YOU!

Screen Shot 2013-07-12 at 9.44.25 AM
Training camp is rapidly approaching, which means football season is almost back! Here at Russell Street Report, we’re a fan site created BY Ravens fans, FOR Ravens fans. Instead of forcing news and random topics down your throats, we want to cover the things that you care about even if that means giving Ravens fans control sometimes. As we prepare for camp, we’ll be making requests for one-on-one interviews to get to learn a little more about the players (particularly the newcomers) and find out the things that YOU want...

Amadeus Prime Ayanbadejo recovers from successful open heart surgery

amadeus
He may not be a Raven any more, but Brendon Ayanbadejo will always be a part of the Super Bowl XLVII family. Speaking of family, Ayanbadejo recently took to social media to announce that his son, Amadeus Prime, had underwent a successful open heart procedure and is currently recovering in ICU. From Ayanbadejo’s Facebook page: He suffered from a ASD, which is a small hole in his heart. He also had to have a couple veins rerouted, which is normal with this congenital heart defect. The pericardium (a sack that the...

John Harbaugh Gifts His Staff With Precious Metals

Harbs Trophy
Not everyone is flawless, even Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome. Mistakes are a part of life, and sometimes they become a blessing in disguise. In 2008, as the Ravens searched for their third head coach in franchise history, the organization and fans were left dejected as Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett played the Ravens for a pay increase and promotion with the then popular “head coach in waiting” label. A day later, a 45-year old Philadelphia Eagles special teams coach was hired by the Ravens, and the same question...

Vonta Leach’s agent is talking up the Miami Dolphins

vontaleach
The Miami Dolphins made a splash (pun intended) during free agency, and they may not be done yet. Ralph Vitolo, the agent for former Ravens fullback Vonta Leach, told the Miami Herald that he believes that his client will end up signing with the Miami Dolphins. Leach was released by the Ravens earlier this month after refusing to take a pay cut. When it comes to free agent talent, the Dolphins haven’t shied away from opening up their checkbooks. During the first two hours of free agency, the Dolphins signed...

It’s unfair to compare Aaron Hernandez and Ray Lewis

Aaron Hernandez
On Wednesday, tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested, released by the New England Patriots, and then charged with first-degree murder and five other firearm violations all within hours of each other. As the shocking developments continue to unfold surrounding Hernandez’s alleged involvement in the events that led to the death of Odin Lloyd, 27 on the night of June 14th, comparisons by multiple media outlets continue to draw a connection between Hernandez and Ravens legend Ray Lewis. This is unfortunate for Lewis, as his name was cleared in the stabbing...

(Video) Ray Rice, the punter?

Rice Punter
In most circumstances, the length of an NFL player’s career is strictly determined by their output on the gridiron. The major investments franchises commit to their players mean that they all do their homework before offering a contract. At the Scouting Combine, rookie hopefuls are tested in various categories that prove they’re amazing athletes. However, how high a guy can jump or how much he can bench rarely gives much insight into how he’ll play in the highest level professional football has to offer. It’s easy to see why some...

Bernard Pierce unharmed in Philadelphia carjacking

Bernard_Pierce_2
Over the weekend, Ravens running back Bernard Pierce was home in Philadelphia, but certainly wasn’t shown any brotherly love. CBS 3 reported that Pierce and another individual were victims of a carjacking, being held at gunpoint and robbed of their wallets, cell phones and Pierce’s recently purchased BMW. Luckily, Pierce and his friend were unharmed, only left shaken by what had happened. Tammy Pierce, Bernard’s mother, spoke with CBS 3 and said she believed that her son was targeted because people around his hometown know who he is. She is disappointed...

Could Vonta Leach return to Baltimore?

Leach Bailey
Even though it was a widely anticipated move, Pro Bowl fullback Vonta Leach’s release from the Ravens upset much of the fan base. Leach, highly regarded as the best fullback in the game, is part of a dying breed. That said, it’s not typical to see the best player at their position last long during free agency. However, Leach was released over two weeks ago, and still has yet to sign with another team. The day after his release, I along with other media members were discussing Leach and the...
