About Kris Jones

Kris Jones

Kris - or "Goob" as he's widely known - has turned an obsession into a career. As a media member by day and super fan by night, he reports from the Under Armour Performance Center twice per week and brings Ravens news from a fan's perspective. His popular YouTube series Goobvision propelled his career and notoriety amongst Ravens fans, even helping him win the 2010 nationwide DIRECTV Ultimate Displaced Fan contest. He's been featured on shows such as The Jim Rome Show, ProFootballTalk Live, The Sirius XM Blitz with Rich Gannon and Adam Schein, Sirius XM's MadDog Radio, The Michael Irvin Show, Tony Bruno Show, Two Live Stews and FoxSports.com to name a few (or is that a lot?). He's caught a touchdown pass from Warren Moon during a flag football game and hates the Pittsburgh Steelers more than anyone else on the face of the earth. Twitter: RavenManiac

Is Jameel McClain in the Ravens’ future plans?

mcclainfumble
After suffering a spinal cord contusion during a Week 14 loss to the Washington Redskins, Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain was placed on Injured Reserve, thus ending his season and reducing his role to spectator during his team’s Super Bowl conquest. Ravens’ general manager Ozzie Newsome identified their biggest area of need this offseason as the middle of their defense. Newsome already has his hands full trying to prepare for his first season without Ray Lewis anchoring the linebacking corps and needing to make a competitive offer to the team’s best performing … Continue reading

Jacoby Jones commemorates Super Bowl victory with a new tattoo

photo
In the media, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kapernick’s body of work as a young NFL quarterback has taken a back seat to the tattoo work that was actually on his body. A heavily tattooed player like Kaepernick is no longer a rarity in the NFL; it’s actually more of the norm if you ever have the chance to walk through an NFL locker room. Kaepernick’s tattoos receive attention because of the position he is playing and the fact that quarterbacks and kickers are some of the only positions left … Continue reading

Free Agents: Ellerbe is a higher priority than Kruger

krugerellerbe
The personnel decisions facing general manager Ozzie Newsome and the rest of the Ravens front office are no different than what every other team in the NFL is experiencing. However, retaining free agents will be more difficult than usual as their demand and price tags have escalated following the Ravens’ most recent Super Bowl victory. During the “State of the Ravens” press conference, Newsome made it clear the team wouldn’t be making as strong an effort to keep the team together as they did following their 2000 Super Bowl victory … Continue reading

Will Ray Lewis’ absence make John Harbaugh’s job more difficult?

rayharbshug
Less than two weeks removed from being crowned World Champions, the Ravens already find themselves in familiar territory as underdogs for a repeat performance next season. Currently with the fifth-best odds to win the Super Bowl, the Ravens are tied for fourth even win the AFC, let alone the Super Bowl. Even though they’ve been ignored by oddsmakers, the Ravens will play the 2013 season with targets on their backs as the most recent team to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Pre-existing high standards in Baltimore have only increased with the … Continue reading

Ray Rice fell off a parade float

ricefall
The Ravens’ Super Bowl XLVII victory parade on Tuesday was a time that those in attendance will likely never forget. M&T Bank Stadium was filled with an estimated 95,000 to watch the Ravens celebrate their second Super Bowl victory. Hundreds of thousands of people lined the streets and packed inside the stadium to get a glimpse of the players and a Vince Lombardi Trophy full of fingerprints. The fun event almost took a turn for the worse as a running back Ray Rice nearly suffered a major injury when the … Continue reading

Terrell Suggs rips “Dirtbag” Skip Bayless for his Brady/Tebow crushes

skipsuggs
He may be the dean of Ball So Hard University but Terrell Suggs has a doctorate in trash talk. Suggs’ personality and willingness to debate has made him an easy target for desperate ratings grabs by ESPN’s First Take. The show, which originated as Cold Pizza, a morning sports program, has now developed into being the laughing stock of ESPN’s programming lineup. Host Skip Bayless has allowed his journalistic integrity to become clouded by his infatuation with quarterback Tim Tebow and other ridiculous opinions. He has a strong distaste for the … Continue reading

Ravens will erect statue outside of M&T Bank Stadium to honor Ray Lewis

johnnyustatue
As Super Bowl Champions, the Ravens will open their season in Baltimore on Thursday Night Football. That night, fans will get their first taste of Baltimore Ravens football without Ray Lewis, a man who gave everything he had to the Ravens and the city of Baltimore. If there were mountains in the city of Baltimore, Lewis’ face would surely join Johnny Unitas, Cal Ripken and Brooks Robinson on the Mount Rushmore of Baltimore sports. Given the landscape restrictions, the city and the Ravens will honor Lewis in a more traditional way. … Continue reading

Cary Williams lucky he wasn’t ejected from Super Bowl

caryshoveref
All season long we’ve told you how much of a fighter Cary Williams is both on and off the field.  During Super Bowl XLVII, Williams let his emotions get the best of him, and it almost cost him a chance to finish the game on the field with his teammates. Following Ed Reed’s interception of Colin Kaepernick, 49ers and Ravens players were fired up. While Williams was laying on the ground, 49ers fullback Bruce Miller came over and pushed Williams’ helmet off of his face while his chinstrap was still … Continue reading

Joe Flacco is having a great 24 hours

Flacco Disney
We’re all watching the greatest 24 hours of Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco’s life unfold before our eyes. Flacco, who is now not only a Super Bowl champion, but a Super Bowl MVP, will have his “dull” face plastered in more places than he’d likely care to see. Shortly after hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy into the sky, Flacco hosted a post-game private party for friends and family members. During the party, Flacco and his wife Dana announced that they would be expecting the birth of their second child. The couple … Continue reading

An Open Letter To Pete Prisco

Pete-Prisco
Dear Pete, Hello, my name is Kris Jones, I am a Ravens fan and cover the team for RussellStreetReport.com. Following the Ravens 34-31 win in Super Bowl XLVII, you and I engaged in a debate on Twitter. The exchange started when I saw the following message come across my timeline from your account.         You are a respected journalist. Did you actually write this? Maybe you didn’t. This may be a good time to say that your log-in information was hacked. I’ll admit, I’ve been critical of … Continue reading

Federal Hill Victory Party (Time-lapse video)

Fed Hill Party
Just a short walk from Baltimore’s iconic Inner Harbor lies the quiet and historic Federal Hill. Fed Hill, as its known, is one of the three main bar districts in Baltimore City, and is known as the party spot – and one hell of a party spot if your team wins the Super Bowl. Mother’s Federal Hill Grille has long been known as the epicenter of any Ravens related activity in the city outside of M&T Bank Stadium. Their “Purple Patio” and painted asphalt football field is the playground for … Continue reading

Ravens up for three awards at NFL Honors

rice4th29
Over the past handful of years, change is the NFL has typically been perceived as negative to the fan base. However, tomorrow night will mark the second annual NFL Honors, a football-centered award show mixing celebrities with players and putting the NFL at the focus of primetime television for the entire weekend. It’s been a welcome breath of fresh air to the way awards are announced. During last season’s inaugural NFL Honors, Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs was announced as the Defensive Player of the Year. With Suggs and the rest … Continue reading

Ravens & 49ers are both second-half teams, so what gives on Sunday?

joe2ndhalf
Dwarfed by the story lines of brotherly competition and deer antler spray is the fact that Super Bowl XLVII will feature two teams who play much better after receiving their halftime orange slices. While halftime adjustments are far from an exact science, for both the Ravens and 49ers, something just clicks. Unlike the 49ers, the Ravens have played in some poor weather conditions lately, first in frigid Denver then in blustery New England. For whatever reason, it takes the Ravens a little while to warm up, but what they’ve shown … Continue reading

Why are the Super Bowl logos so boring now?

fy0DnROyXjae47ekSKLDR0Myo1_r2_1280
As a child, I was introduced to Roman numerals through Super Bowl logos. Today, the only reason I still care about Roman numerals – you guessed it – is for Super Bowl logos. With a nickname like “Goob,” I’m humble enough to admit that I started to get lost in math when my educators started talking about the alphabet in mathematical equations. I was instantaneously turned off from algebra because I thought, “When am I ever going to need this in life?” For the most part, I was right. However, … Continue reading

Williams has some flattering & not-so flattering stats. What’s he worth?

carywilliams
When Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb tore his ACL in October, Cary Williams was elevated to the team’s top corner, typically covering the best receiver on the field. Fast forward 15 weeks later, Williams and his teammates are one of just two teams left playing football in February, as the Ravens will play the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday. All season long, the defense has been in “bend but don’t break” mode and have weathered the storm when it came to significant injuries to Webb, and linebackers Terrell Suggs (Achilles/biceps) and … Continue reading

Some Ravens may not let their sons play football….will you?

youthfootball
Would you let your kids play football? That is the hot question nowadays. As Ravens fans, we’re one of the very few fan bases that still appreciates a good defense. We love hard hits, especially at our opponents’ expense. The problem is, the multiple concussions caused by defensive hard hitters such as Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, or Bernard Pollard can cause potential life altering brain injuries to both the person doing the hitting and their victims. Hard hits do more than strike fear into opponents, they’re great for ratings too. … Continue reading

Ravens roster already starting to be cherry-picked?

Steelers Ravens Football
For Super Bowl teams, turnover on active rosters just happens to be a byproduct of a successful team. Even the most casual of football fans (even Steelers fans) will have parties to watch the NFL’s premier game of the year, which just so happens to have the Ravens playing in it for the second time in franchise history. Fans aren’t the only ones watching with extra attention, as the Super Bowl is a perfect time for other franchises in the NFL to window shop for impending free agents who may … Continue reading

Flacco inks endorsement deal with Haribo Gold-Bears

flaccogummibears
Earning a trip to play in the Super Bowl has its perks, and for Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, it means becoming more marketable. While much of the discussion within the media right now relates to Flacco’s market value and the worthiness of a massive new contract next season, one company has already signed Flacco to a different contract – an endorsement deal. Haribo, the popular candy company and original manufacturer of the popular gummi bear, has signed Flacco to be the new face of their various marketing campaigns. Flacco, known … Continue reading
