Beating the Texans, a very simple plan!

rice_TD

This is the week for the Ravens to make a statement.

Houston is coming to town on Sunday, and they are coming with several injuries that will impact their entire season.  Andre Johnson is out indefinitely, Super Mario is on IR, and Schaub is banged up.  If Schaub gets hit with any force at all, he’s done, and Lefty Leinart gets to play QB.

On Offense

Cam needs to reestablish the identity of the Ravens.  We run to set up the pass, not pass and then pass some more.  The offense should roll right over the Texans because of the loss of Williams, and a week rush defense.  Lee Evans is out again, meaning that the passing game will not be as effective as it can be.  Now, don’t quit on Evans yet, it’s still the beginning of the season and plenty of games are left un-played.  The key is to not turn the ball over.  We saw the Tennessee game, and the Jets game.  The reason we were bailed out of the Jets game was the defense.  Cam needs to give Rice the ball, and not just Rice up the middle like usual.  This is Ray Rice’s game to shine, like every other game is.  If the offense does well, Ray Rice has a great game.  I don’t see the Texans being able to stop him.

On Defense

Normally, I’d be worried about facing the Texans, but not this time.  Andre Johnson is out, and Derrick Mason is in.  That’s right; Mason is playing against the Ravens in Baltimore back to back games.  It’s funny how he was booted out of New York for talking too much.  It’s like me making fun of you for playing too much Madden!  It just doesn’t make sense.  I have no fears about the defense playing at any level less than spectacular this week.  We will stop Foster, pressure Schaub, and force him to make some bad passes.  The only way that they give it up is if Flacco coughs it up a couple of times, or we give them great field position.
