FAN’S CHOICE: Baltimore Ravens All-Time Team, Guard

Screenshot 2014-07-10 08.29.27

The Baltimore Ravens haven’t been known as a team that has consistent offensive line play and over the years few have made the trip across the pond to Honolulu.

Today we will focus on the Ravens All-Time greatest guards.

We’ve heard it said often that Ozzie Newsome prefers to spend the team’s money and high draft picks on players who touch the ball or the quarterback. That’s not a description for guard.

The list below is admittedly thin and is an indictment on the team’s historical lack of attention given to the position and adherence to that Ozzie principle.

We need to select four players to build our 53-man All-Time roster. Since we’ll only carry one true center (Matt Birk) we will need to select a guard who can swing as a center in order to create the prerequisite depth.

Grubbs, Yanda and Mulitalo are the easy picks for the first three. The swing guard should come down to either Brown or Williams. I went with Brown, although that might just be because I remember him more.
