Final 53 Reset, Ravens Add LB James

Robert James v Jags

ROSTER NOTES: The Ravens have added former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Robert James to their 53-man roster. James, 29, was a 5th round selection by the Falcons out of Arizona State in 2008 and he’s been a core special teams player for Mike Smith’s club.

This move and the corresponding release of LaQuan Williams gets the Ravens to the league mandated roster limit of 53.

However, included in that 53 are Dennis Pitta and Ryan Jensen. The Ravens will place Pitta on IR with a designation to return tomorrow, September 2. They will fill Pitta’s spot with a corresponding roster move, more than likely with an offensive lineman or a cornerback.

Jensen, a player the Ravens hoped could provide interior offensive line depth as both a guard and center, has a broken foot. His inclusion in the 53 could signal that the Ravens are comfortable with his healing and rehabilitation.

It could also mean that the Ravens are simply parking the rookie from Colorado State Pueblo on the roster until the team makes another move before Thursday’s contest against the Denver Broncos.

Here’s the 53 as of today (9:50 AM)

Boy , the corners and O-line depth really scare me,,,,,I bet Ozzie is a little scared also………………..I’m excited to see the new receivers develop right before our eyes , I just hope they come around quick,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I was worried about our LBs at first but it looks like Ozzie did a good job here,,,,,,,,,,,,,,can’t wait , getting antsy , ready for some football , baseball sucks……..

  2. Jason Owens on said:

if ryan jensen goes to an injury list danny watkins from the eagles would be a great depth pickup, former first rounder and o line coach juan castillo has familiarity with him. the lack of o line depth is all that scares me, #3 running backs and #5 corners are as easy to find as kickers
