After the first couple preseason outings, what is your gut feeling of how the Ravens will turn out?
I'm out of state and haven't seen much Ravens ball, so I'm going strictly by what's on the internet.

It's so hard to predict records but I think 10-6 is doable for this team. I hope that's enough to get to the playoffs.

If we stay healthy...especally at QB and OL I would say 11-5 is doable. Like losac said whatever it takes to make the playoffs.

Tough division, tough road schedule with a year and 1/2 road losing streak monkey on our backs.
My heart says 13-3 with a deep play-off run. My brain says two game improvement: 8-8.

I think we can manage 12-4 but I will be happy if we do 10-6. Its so important to get off to a fast start and I truly believe we will!!!:D

The first half of our schedule is lighter than the second. We must get our wins early. I am not going to commit to a prediction, but I will say that a strong start will dictate where we finish. With the tough second half, a .500 record, for the second half, is probable. I see a 6-2 start as doable, and couple that with at least a 4-4 second half and we finish 10-6.
In the second half, I see the Tits as winnable, and I will assume that we split with the Bengals and Steelers. I think sweeping the Stains is very possible, because they have nothing.

11-5 and playoffs. If we stay healthy, at QB most importantly, we might be even better.

8 - 8. Eight losses on the road and 8 wins at home. I'll revise this after I see how they play in Tampa.
I don't want to get overly optimistic at this point. I believe that we can do much better than 8-8, but the Ravens record on the road the past few seasons has me concerned.

The coming weeks will test that. We won't be home for a month through two preseason games and one regular season game.

Rulz -- good point. A win in Tampa would go a long way towards getting their confidence back.
One thing I like about TC and the preseason so far, all of the guys have mentioned that they have one thing to focus on and that is the first game in Tampa.

The Lions lost 24 straight ended with a win @ Chicago at the start of last year I think that's the record.

BurghSouth banned already. The Bucs have the record for most consecutive road losses and BS has the record for most quickly banned.

lol about BS. That is why this place will be such a great board.
I would say our record depends on how our division does this year. (duh) But this year the division winner (Cinci) has the potential to bomb and the SB Champs are not what they were last year.
I say:
10-6 to 11-5
This is a tough division. We also play the NFC South and the AFC West. 2 very tough divisions. With some luck we could pul-off a 12-4 year, maybe. One small step at a time folks.

I agree with T. That's exactly what I think...8-8. I think part of our problem as a fan base on these boards is having too high expectations. I know, I know, why NOT have high expectations? Well, my thinking is that way, if 8-8 becomes reality, then I am not overtly disapointed. If they do much better than 8-8, then I am overjoyed.

This is a tough one to predict. It seems as though we have all the right tools to make a serious run. It also appears that we have the right attitude this year as well.
However, I'm not betting the house based on what I've seen so far in 2 pre-season games.
If we can get a good start in the first half of the season, we'll likely make the playoffs. However, if we struggle early, the 2nd half of the schedule is brutal, and could keep us out.
That being said, 10-6 or 11-5 is certainly possible. At the very least, I do think we make the playoffs, because I think the rest of the AFC is a bit weaker this year.

Ugh, I SO hate these threads. THere are just too many factors to weigh.
11-5 is very possible, but I am hoping for 12-4 or better. 8-8 on the downside.

If the RAVENS can stay healthy, and can prove they can win on the road then I think that 10-6 is certainly feasible.
But, I am not getting my hopes up yet.

I want to see them play the Bucs before I'd make any real predictions on a W-L record, but I believe they have the makings of a playoff team and hopefully to get deep into the playoffs. Just gotta hope they stay healthy and the O-line isn't a sieve.
It would be great for them to get to Miami!

We have a tendency to start each season with a sloppy first game. I can't remember the last time we won the first game of the season. We must go into Tampa Bay ready to kick the living heck out of the Bucs. I have seen the Bucs this preseason, and they are a beatable team.

It will all come down to injuries. Looking at the schedule the Tampa game will be a big test. Many teams within our division are already having problems. The Bengals need to buy jail uniforms as they can't stay out of trouble. The Steelers will see this year how much the BUS meant to them. Hey the Browns they speak for themselves. Getting back to the Ravens I'm looking at 11-5 or 10-6 and have us making the playoffs. I also look for us to have a playoff game here this year which will be great for all of us. The driving force this year will be veterans who know time is running out and they will play with determination to get to the Super Bowl. MaNair was within 1 yard of being a Super Bowl champion and that will make his fire burn. Let's just hope injuries don't kill the dreams of a successful season.

I like Dusy's predictions, however I would change this by one game. I do not see us sweeping the Bungles this year. Carson will be back for those games and I say we split with them loosing in Cincy and winning here.
10-6
Assuming the O-line improves over what I have seen so far. After last Thursday's game we have seen three different QBs tripped up by the O-line. Even McNair.
This O-line still needs mucho help! :141847_smmackbottom

Dusty - you see us losing to the Steelers at home and beating them in Pittsburgh? Interesting.
I also think we'll split with them but have a feeling it'll be the other way around.

Bucs - WIN - This really is a toss up, but I've got to go with a Ravens win...We lost to the Colts in the last opener, but take away Stover's three missed field goal flukes and have Steve McNair at QB and that could be a win. TB is no Indy
Raiders - WIN - another tough one to predict, because Oakland is 2-0 in preseason play. But I think we humiliate Brooks in regular season play...
Browns - WIN - my gut tells me we do better against Cleveland up there.
Chargers - LOSS - By this game, either Rivers has worked out the mistakes, or they're onto another QB. Plus LT is always a menace to deal with.
Broncos - WIN - We almost beat them last year, this time our defense and offense works together.
Panthers - LOSS - Panthers are a damn good team and if they have both Steve Smith and Keyshawn healthy, it's going to be tough to stop passing and/or running.
Saints - WIN - They have a good offense, not so good defense. We have a great defense and a good offense. Done.
Bengals - LOSS - By now, Palmer should be in full swing. I think we keep it close, but damn Chad Johnson is hard to stop.
Titans - WIN - Steve will have fun thrashing his old team with his old receiver.
Falcons - WIN - Unless the Falcs trade Duckett for a decent D starter, I can't see them being able to shut out our offense. Plus we've managed to stop Vick before.
Steelers - LOSS - Ugh, I hate to say that, but I just get the feeling they beat us here.
Bengals - LOSS - The Bengals are our toughest opponent in the AFC North, so they'd be most likely to sweep us.
Chiefs - WIN - LJ and the Chiefs offense isn't doing so well without Saunders. I think we take this one from them.
Browns - LOSS
Steelers - WIN
Bills - WIN - If we're already in the playoffs by this point, McNair, Ogden, Ray will probably not play, so we could lose this. But if we're 9-6 heading into this game, we're probably still fighting for a spot.

I dunno. We haven't won a road game in almost 2 years - something tells me we probably won't go into KC in December and beat them. I think this one's a definite loss.
Of course, Herm Edwards may play a factor just like he did in the last road game we won vs. the Jets. His 2 minute clock management is worse than Billick's.

I think 11-5 with losses in Pittsburgh, Cincy, KC, and Tampa, and one loss to the Panthers here.

Forgot all that "I am not getting optimistic crap", that is for people who see negativity about everything in life. Go with what you truly feel and don't take of a few wins just so you don't get your hopes up.
I was thinking 10-6 before preseason and have now raised my prediction to 11-5. And yes I am being optimistic that we have no major injuries, especially to McNair, so screw you all ;)

I'll go with 10-6 and a wildcard spot, with us winning the first playoff game and losing the second one. Watch out in 2007 though.

I say 13-3 with winning the division and home field for the playoffs. SB appearance. Whoever we beat to get to the SB will be better then who we face in the SB. So we win it all this year! ps: Ray retires, JO retires, McNair retires..... lord help us in '07.

for once I am very optimistic. We have endured injuries and underperforming play the last 2 years. We endured the growing pains of a QB who will probably never get it. We are due. Its our year. This is the one.:179421: :179421: :179421: :179421: :179421:

I agree with the philosophy, but think a 9-7 expectation to avoid disappointment is a safe bet as well.
Let me just say that I predict we will get that bad taste from last season out of our mouths, so take that for what it means to you.

If McNair stays healthy and starts somewhere in the neighborhood of 12-14 games, I'll say 10-6 and a playoff spot.
If McNair gets hurt and misses a big portion of the season - forget about it.
But all being equal, I think 10-6 is reachable.

I'm not expecting anything more than 10-6. I'd be thrilled with that. Should be enough for a wildcard spot.
