Kickoff an hour away. Lets get it on! GO RAVENS!!!!
StingerNLG
10-29-2006, 12:03 PM
Ok, it's motivation time:
All four guys on ESPN NFL Countdown picked the Saints to win.
Only Bob Costas on Inside the NFL is picking us to win.
Seems like Fox and CBS also wants the Saints to win.
How come the Saints are getting their intro televised and we never do?
Whip that ass Ravens! Whip that ass.

StingerNLG

Edit. Sorry, that was Wilcox.
Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:13 PM
1st, from the Ravens 49, singleback give to Jamal, who fumbles it immediately after getting it, and the Saints recover.
Way to fucking go, Jamal. Pathetic.
Merlin
10-29-2006, 12:14 PM
The o-line didn't move at ALL after the snap -- which led to that fumble -- horrible playing!
Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:15 PM
1st down Saints from the 50, give to Deuce for 1-2.
2nd and 8, swing to Bush in the backfield, and DOWNED by AD in the backfield! loss of 6.
3rd and 14, give to Bush, who FUMBLES, Ravens recover! C-Mac gets it!

3rd and 9, complete to D-WILL for 13-14 and a first!
JonG316
10-29-2006, 12:20 PM

Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:21 PM
1st down from the 30, Jamal for 2-3.
Late flag comes in. Unnecessary roughness on the Saints!
StingerNLG
10-29-2006, 12:22 PM
Uh oh! Could we actually score a touchdown here and get on the right track????
Play action right here baby!!!
Erf, bad throw. But hey hey!! A defensive penalty! 1st and goal! Come on offense! Do it NOW!!!
JonG316
10-29-2006, 12:22 PM

Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:23 PM
Stupid late shove.
1st from the 14, I back, Mughelli in front, Jamal gets absolutely lit up when he was going full tilt after a gain of 2. He doesn't have the power anymore :(
2nd and 8, McNair looks through all his reads, eventually dumps to Mughelli off his back foot. Gain of 1.
Illegal contact on NO. Huge play!
skimmy
10-29-2006, 12:23 PM
Wow, McNair had all day to pass ... that was amazing. Illegal contact, woohoo first and goal.
Merlin
10-29-2006, 12:23 PM
multiple defensive penalties -- saints don't look crisp coming out after the bye
Merlin
10-29-2006, 12:24 PM
What will we do on 2nd?
Brian of old -- run Jamal again
Brian of new -- Heap in the middle?
Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:25 PM
1st and goal from the 7, Jamal straight forward for 1, maybe 2.
2nd from the 5.5, shotgun, pass intended for Mason pops up towards the back of the endzone, and falls incomplete. Saint and Clayton in the area, but it falls.
3rd, shotgun, empty backfield, QB DRAW, TOUCHDOWN RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!
Merlin

Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:28 PM
Great call on the draw. Spread em out, easy TD.
Lewis on the return, absolutely lit up by someone. Nice.
Merlin
10-29-2006, 12:29 PM
Seems like the first time the kickoff unit has done a decent coverage all year -- Mike Smith really stayed in his lane. Still the ball is only getting to the 10 yard line

1st down Saints from the 20, pressure on Brees, way underthrown for Horn, and he was in position, but C-Mac knocks it away. AD with a nice hit on Brees.
AD comes off a little lame.
2nd, pass complete to Campbell for about 5.
3rd and 5, shotgun, Bush in the backfield, Colston slips away from McAlister on the blitz, and he goes all the way down to the 20ish range. C-Mac BIT on the pump fake.

Blah, thats whats gonna happen with this defense, high risk high rewards.
Ravens0587
10-29-2006, 12:35 PM
It's ok were going to give up big plays, b/c we gamble a lot. It doesn't take a rocket genius to figure out you can't run on us and we bite on pump fakes, so you take shots deep and hope you beat us.
The downside to pumping is, watch the hit AD had on Charlie frye when he pumped. If we get to you while pumping I guarantee you, you wont try it again.
Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:36 PM
1st down from the Ravens 22, designed play with 2 pump fakes, Brees swings to Stecker who gets a nice gain.
2nd and 5, PA, wide open is the FB Carney, gets about 10 yards. First and goal Saints.
Ravens0587
10-29-2006, 12:36 PM
JonG your a very smart man, btw great minds think alike

Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:38 PM
1st and goal from the 18, pitch to Bush who THROWS, and it is PICKED by C-Mac!!! He looks upfield like he might take it out, but wisely goes down.
Ravens ball at the 20!

10-29-2006, 12:38 PM

Reggie who????
And off topic, a HILARIOUS TV commercial with a remake of the Cal/Stanford play.
Ravens0587
10-29-2006, 12:39 PM
McAlister wanted the record....Great throw Reggie
Merlin
10-29-2006, 12:39 PM
C-Mac made up for his fumble -- nice interception and pulling the ball back from Ray!

Man Ray needs to stop trying to take everyones balls.
JonG316
10-29-2006, 12:40 PM

Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:40 PM
1st, complete down the sidelines for 13 for Mason! Nice foot control!
Ravens0587
10-29-2006, 12:41 PM
I saw that, at first I thought he was trying to make sure he tackled him for a touchback, I think he remembers Ed reeds play at miami against BC and he wanted to do it.
JonG316
10-29-2006, 12:42 PM
McNair has looked fantastic today
Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:42 PM
1st from the 32, false start on Brown.
1st and 15, Jamal to a hole, gain of 2ish. Can we see Musa or MA, please? :(
2nd and 14, play action, complete to Clayton for about 17. Nice play! Clayton had to go high up, because there were tons of defenders around.
StingerNLG
10-29-2006, 12:42 PM
Wow!! Play Action??? Are you kidding? Nice jump in the air for Clayton!
Merlin
10-29-2006, 12:43 PM
McNair is looking much more accurate than the last 2 games -- passes to Clayton and Mason were right on the money
Merlin
10-29-2006, 12:44 PM
Third and short -- our eternal nemesis -- can we put Anderson in instead?
Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:44 PM
1st from the Ravens 45, Jamal for 2. I sense a pattern.
2nd and 8, Jamal with a nice burst, gets about 6. Great hole, hit it well.
3rd and 2, PA, WIDE OPEN is Heap down to the 17!!!!!!!
StingerNLG
10-29-2006, 12:45 PM
Oh my god, and now Heap is wide open????
Could we have been wrong about Brian Billick all this time, and his coordinators just sucked ass??
JonG316
10-29-2006, 12:45 PM
People are gonna have to start really sucking it up around here soon. The playcalling has been perfect.
Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:45 PM
They faked that Clayton reverse too. Very tricky Brian, very tricky.
End of the first.
I like this so far, outside of the C-Mac bite!
skimmy
10-29-2006, 12:46 PM
The offense looks better in a lot of ways today. McNair looks good, the pass protection is much better, there appears to be some imagination in the playcalling... the Saints defense is on their heels right now.
Merlin
10-29-2006, 12:47 PM
Brian knows his team -- the offense is going to take a significant step up -- I'm liking what I see
On the third and short, he pulled Jamal out and had Anderson instead; nice play calling to Heap.
After the first quarter, McNair looks comfortable and Jamal is running well -- great start!!
JonG316
10-29-2006, 12:48 PM
Wilcox is such a powerful runner when he has the ball, we have a great TE one two punch.
Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:48 PM
1st from the 17, I form, Jamal looked like he was stopped in the backfield, but he jukes the tackle, reverses field and gets 3 going right. Not bad.
2nd and 7, shotgun, complete to Wilcox who shakes a tackle, and bulls forward. Got about 7 yards. 1st!
StingerNLG
10-29-2006, 12:49 PM
And Wilcox fighting for yards!
I am impressed.

Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:50 PM
1st and goal from the 7, Jamal and a cloud of dust for 1-2.
2nd and goal from the 5, Jamal for 1.
3rd and goal from the 4, predicting pass to Heap for fun, spread shotgun again, middle crowded this time, pass to Clarence Moore, caught, TOUCHDOWN RAVENS!!!!
And not a fade either!!!
StingerNLG
10-29-2006, 12:51 PM

Hrafn
10-29-2006, 12:53 PM
Those two touchdowns were great calls, the first setting up the next. Not sure about the constant Jamal up the middle tho.
Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:53 PM
Lewis smacked at the 29.
Merlin
10-29-2006, 12:55 PM
Dude -- Jamal up the middle is keeping things honest. While we may be seeing the "new" billick offense, we'll still be going up the middle, rather than looking like the Eagles and Westbrook.
Beerracuda
10-29-2006, 12:55 PM
Not sure about the constant Jamal up the middle tho.
Yeah, that ain't going to fly against a good run-stopping defense. But hey, it seems to be working against the Saints. No huge gains, just lots of little ones.

Could this be the beginning of a new Baltimore Ravens offense?? The offense we've been waiting for all year???

Yea, we've been waiting a lot longer for this than just this year though. Why didn't Billick do this a long ass time ago?!
Sephy
10-29-2006, 12:58 PM
1st down from the 30, reverse fake, Deuce looking shifty for 6-7.
2nd and 3, pressure on Brees, swing to Deuce, at worst a loss of 1, at best no gain.
3rd and 4, Saints LT flinches. Jammal Brown, who we all wanted 2 years ago. Still do ;)
3rd and 9, Gerome Sapp comes up the middle on the blitz, and Brees tries to pass and Sapp flies in the air and hits it backwards. Nice!!
Sams loses yards, 2 to be precise to around the 23.
JonG316
10-29-2006, 01:01 PM
If they ran jamal up the middle like that all game I'd be so happy, just cause it's showing a commitment to the run and look at the TOP, those runs up the middle are gonna turn bigger and bigger as the game goes.
Sephy
10-29-2006, 01:02 PM
1st from the 23, Jamal falling forward from the moment he got the ball for 3-4.
WTF, they only gave him 2?
2nd and 8, PA, McNair rolls left, hits Mason at the 40. Gain of 15, nice!
StingerNLG
10-29-2006, 01:02 PM
Here is your around the league update:
Cincy 7, Falcons 6. Michael Vick coughs up a potential 1st down and luckily the Bengals couldn't recover.
Chicago 24, SF 0. Yeah, need I say anything about this? Can you say Alex Smith is a bust?
Green Bay 14, Arizona 0. Matt Lineart is 1-7 so far in this game. Let me repeat that. Matt Lineart is 1-7 today. And he just had a delay of game penalty. Looks like a OC change hasn't helped here. Maybe Denny shoudl call his own plays too??
Jax 7, Philly 0. Gerrard is playing today. McNabb is not off to a good start again today. But never count that man out!
2nd and 8, PA, McNair rolls left, hits Mason at the 40. Gain of 15, nice!
Did you see that rollout?? DAMN!!
Merlin
10-29-2006, 01:03 PM
Just curious with McNair getting nailed after throwing his passes multiple times.
What's the ruling on how much time can pass after a QB throws the ball out of the pocket and him getting hit?? They seem to be calling it fairly loose with McNair
Ravens0587
10-29-2006, 01:04 PM
The biggest difference in the offense I noticed is the Offense is smiling, after getting hit by will msith Mcanir was smiling from ear to ear. the very next play jamal gets 6 yards gets up and is smiling.
StingerNLG
10-29-2006, 01:04 PM
FUMBLE!! Where the hell was the pass protection?????
Sephy
10-29-2006, 01:04 PM
McNair took a shot too. Smiling though!
1st from the 40, Clayton reverse fake, Jamal straight through for 5-6. GREAT blocks for Ogden and Brown.
2nd and 5, singleback, 3 WR, Jamal up the middle for 2 or so. Lucky to get that really, there was penetration early.
3rd and 3, McNair pumps, then goes down, they call it a fumble, and McNair had it back but lost it. Billick will challenge for the tuck.
They should win this challenge, IMO.
Ravens0587
10-29-2006, 01:05 PM
Dammit, If they saints get some home cooking and this doesn't get overturned I will be pissed.
JonG316
10-29-2006, 01:05 PM
Thats most likely gonna be tuck rule. From what I understand of the rule.
Ravens0587
10-29-2006, 01:08 PM
I also dont think that shouldnt be a fumble, but does anyone really know for sure?
That seems to be the rule most open for interpretation, i.e. whoever is under the hood.

Whhhheeeeewwwwww!!!!!!
Sephy
10-29-2006, 01:10 PM

Ravens win the opportunity to punt. Yes!
Fair catch at the 12.
Stills gets into it with the Saints.
JonG316
10-29-2006, 01:14 PM
Saints are just coming apart! hahahahahaha
Sephy
10-29-2006, 01:14 PM
They jobbed the Saints about 2-3 yards on the spot. He didn't challenge though.
1st from the 10, Bush for 4-5.
2nd and 5, give to Deuce for no gain.
3rd and 5, ball for the RB pops up, and PRUDE CATCHES IT ON THE RUN AND GOES IN FOR THE TD TOUCHDOWN RAVENS!!! HOLY SHIT!!

2nd and 4, Bush for no gain.
3rd and 4, NO forced to spend a TO. #2.

I don't have to leave for another hour, this could be 42-0!!! LOL
I never at any point in the week thought this game would go this way. The Saints may as well just go ahead and forfeit.
And a false start. Wow, this is a meltdown of EPIC proportions for New Orleans.
Ravens0587
10-29-2006, 01:18 PM
Holy shit that was funny. Brees started pointing at the defense then keeps pointing and then hes like o shit what the hell is that, then calls a time out
Sephy
10-29-2006, 01:20 PM
False start Saints.
3rd and 9, complete to Colston, who looks really good, gain of about 20. Absolutely pathetic coverage from Rolle.

1st from the 32, over the middle to Horn, TD Saints.
Reed looking confused and pow wowwing with Sapp.
Ugh.

Ehhh so much for the shutout at halftime.
Secondary gets burned again
JonG316
10-29-2006, 01:20 PM
Ah, looks like Sapp may have missed his coverage there.
Merlin
10-29-2006, 01:21 PM
The secondary is showing some serious weakensses if we give the QB time to throw the 20 yard pass
StingerNLG
10-29-2006, 01:21 PM
Samari Rolle AGAIN blowing coverage. What a throw by Brees.
WTF, was Sapp trying to cover Ray Lewis on that play??? Come on secondary!!!!
21-7? I'd still take it. With the way this team is playing right now, we could get that one back real quick.
JonG316
10-29-2006, 01:22 PM
If this offense goes down the field and scores before halftime, even if it's just a field goal this game is over.
Merlin
10-29-2006, 01:22 PM
With 4 minutes left -- we need to make a good offensive run and eat up the clock and score to make up for the mistake from Sapp
Sephy
10-29-2006, 01:22 PM
There was a mistake there, Horn got way behind Reed, Sapp didn't react as Reed cheated up.
Sephy
10-29-2006, 01:23 PM
Sams to the 23.
Sephy
10-29-2006, 01:24 PM
Actually the 29.
1st, 4 minutes left, PA, complete to Mason to the Saints 49! Gain of 22!
Merlin
10-29-2006, 01:24 PM
I would call the play calling in this game -- "using the pass to set up the run"
When's the last time we've seen that??
Sephy

If this is the guy we have the rest of the year, I'll be happy.
Maybe Billick really knows how to call plays. It's just like watching a totally different team.

Ravens 31 Saints 13
Four touchdowns and a field goal has the Baltimore fan base thinking that Billick really could be an offensive genius
Defense gives up another long bomb but this time its Chris McAlister's fault as he gets distracted again
We win the turnover game and the offense has a couple of short fields to work on

Not sure about the constant Jamal up the middle tho.
Are you seriuos? The Saints D isn't that good to start with. But we've had the ball about 20 minutes and Jamal has rushed 18 times for 65 yards already. We're gonna ride Jamal all second half, bank on it; and the Saints D is gonna be so beat up and dead tired that we'll be rushing for 7 a carry in the 4th quarter.
No more confused and frustrated looks by the O. Very VERY impressive effort so far against a very good football team.

I've been saying it till I'm blue in the face the credit/blame lies with the players. They execute the coach becomes a genius. Will give Billick credit for one thing and that's all 3 td's have come with McNair in the shotgun. Both game winning comebacks were with McNair in the shotgun. He moves around better and sees the blitz better. Why Fassel didn't realize it I don't know.

2nd and 21, Bush puts a nice spin on someone, downed by Landry after a gain of about 10.
3rd and 10, Brees goes deep for Horn, there was a flag thrown before the ball even comes down, Horn catches it, but C-Mac gets a PI flag thrown. There was SERIOUS OPI there too.

1st from the 39, Jamal for no gain. The outside run seems to be working, shouldn't abandon it.
2nd and 10, false start on Sypniewski. Didn't see him move this time either.
2nd and 15, pass dropped by Heap. Surprised they were passing, and surprised Heap dropped it. Nice coverage, but a catchable ball.
3rd, shotgun, probably a draw here, it would have been but the snap was dropped by Steve. He falls on it, and they'll punt.
Fake handoff on the punt forces a ST penalty on the Saints.
Sephy
10-29-2006, 02:31 PM
They wave off the penalty.
1st down Saints from the 26, trying a quick hit to Bush split wide, Suggs flies in and deflects it out of bounds.
2nd and 10, blitz coming, and what looked like a completion to Campbell is waved incomplete as 2 Ravens crash into him. Jarret Johnson had the ball picked up and ready to run. Maybe it was Gregg. hah.

2nd and 16, Saints run blitzing, but it was good enough to collapse the pocket for a loss of 3.
3rd and 19, draw to Musa for 1 or 2.
Pashos penalty killed the drive. Not a great punt, but down to the 40.
