Any idea if we're doing the "pitch-black" uniforms any games this year?

I hope not, I don't like them. It would prob. need to be in December if they did.

EDIT: Problem solved.
RavenScallywag, I don't know how much of that uniform you're going to see this year. As the schedule stands now all of our home games are listed as 1 pm, with the last 6 I believe falling under the flexable schedule. If we play well enough where we get a marquee matchup that moves to a Sunday Night then I imagine the Ravens will wear the Black. But if not, there's a chance we won't see them at all.

Do they have to wear them for a night game? They could wear them for a 1 pm game.

I just like the look of them. I'd imagine we'd save it for a marquee, prime time game though...
there's no official rule that'd prevent them from doing a 1pm game, but they probably think it looks best in a marquee matchup. The official rule just states we can only wear alternate uniforms once in a season.

No, I don't think they have to wear them for just a night game. But my understanding is that they can only wear them once or twice a year based on league rules? I thought I read that somewhere. So they've normally saved those for night games. You're right, they could certainly pick a day game I would think. Just doesn't seem likely.

All of our late games including our 2 primetime games are away. I suspect that if we wear the black uniforms it would be for a home playoff game. If things go poorly and we aren't a playoff team they may wear them at the end of the season to throw a bone to the fans.
Hopefully BS will go back on universal ignore soon. The report a trolling post feature is great.

Its twice a year. Buffalo tried to go back to their original uni's last year but could only wear them the 1st 2 weeks.
It was shame because those are some good looking uniforms.

Have the Ravens worn them twice in one season yet? I remember the Cleveland game when they introduced them. And I remember the Vikings game last year.
Oh, and once again the mods work QUICK!! I love this place!

They wore them against Indy and Green Bay last year, Stinger.

I dont think they would want to wear them when its really hot being all black.

Ahhh, Green Bay. Why don't I remember the Indy game? Maybe because of the whole Boller injury thing. That's unfortunately all I remember about the Indy game.

Oh yeah, there was that too.
Anyway, not to change the subject of the thread, I like the black uniforms, but they also don't reflect that Ravens Purple that well. So I'm ok either way.

I would imagine that if they wear them, it will be during a Prime Time game during the season. However, keep in mind, that the two given prime time games are away, and we probably can't wear them that night since the Home teams (Broncos & Bengals) will likely be wearing their home jerseys which are dark colored.
I would imagine, based on how we perform, that if any of our games are changed late in the season the RAVENS may opt to wear them then

I know they have to notify the league by a certain date before the season starts about when they plan on wearing them, I am just not sure when that date is.
And yes, they need to ditch the tights or add a stripe to them or something.

That's fine with me, I wasn't the biggest fan of them anyways. Maybe in the playoffs.

I'm OK with that. It's probably part of the Ravens getting back to the business of playing football, as opposed to showboating or hyping up the players to a level of arrogance not warranted by their performances on the field.
Although I do like the black jerseys, and hopefully they'll get an airing again in the not too distant future.

Im guessing it's party due to no night games scheduled at home.
Does the flex scheduling the NFL is using include moving teams to night games or just later afternoon games?

I am fine with the RAVENS not wearing the black uniforms this year. Given the fact we have no night games at home, it was probably why they didn't submit the request to the NFL to wear them.

I believe it also includes the NBC Sunday Night Game. At least according to one place I read:
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/columnist/hiestand-tv/2005-11-08-hiestand-nfl_x.htm
"Flexing kicks in during the season's last seven weeks — meaning it will start with Week 11 — and allows changes in Sunday night game schedules just 12 days in advance."
Can anyone get a more recent ruling on that?

Why the NFL puts a timeline on a request what jersey to wear just amazes me. Doesn't the league have more important issues to review. Like plyers who continue get locked up. There should not be any time line to wear another jersey. They can change the time of a game later in the season why not do the same with the color of the jersey a team wants to wear.

That is absolutely correct. Just another NFL enigma. In many ways, a fascist organization. (but such successful fascists!)

Too bad. While I am a fan of the all black unis, the thing I always noticed was how the players seemed to get up for those games. There is just something about wearing all black that makes a person feel invincible.

I bet if we have a playoff home game or make it to Miami, the black uni will make an appearance. You can wear the alternate once during the playoffs, I remember because San Diego talked about saving their throwback powder blues for the Superbowl 2 years ago.

My highschool team colors were Black and Orange and my teammates and I always felt a little something extra when strapping up our all black unis.
Hey Mob,

I am not sure exactly what you are trying to say here. While perception is not always reality, when we are talking about how a certain thing makes ME feel then perception can absolutely become reality. If I feel that wearing gloves can make me a better receiver, then the chances of me actually being a better receiver are increased. Similar in concept to a Placebo Effect.

IIRC, we can still alternate jerseys at home. We could, early in the season, opt to wear white instead of purple. This would keep our players cooler. I've seen it done in previous years, but forgot to keep track of it last year.
Anyone know which games, if any, the Ravens wore white at home last year?

Don't remember last year, but I know we were wearing white for Jamal's 295 yard game in 2003 and when we whooped the Steelers (and made Ben a starter) at home in 2004. Both were in early-mid September.
