I wonder if he's flying on the Bengals charter?
Any chance he's in uniform Sunday?
I'd think there's no chance he starts.
Good and necessary move.

Praise the lord!!!
Ya'll know how I feel about this situation and the O-line.
Hopefully he's still got some decent fuel left in the tank and we don't get a Leon Searcy incident again.
I'll be the first to beat on Ozzie when I think he has screwed up, and I'll give him props when I think he did well.
Way to go Mr. GM!!

He says he wants to start Sun and there's no reason he shouldn't. If he's still Willie Anderson he becomes the best RT in our short history(like Searcy should have been)

The best part of this, well second best after giving Flacco a chance to succeed, is how much better this will make our defense against Cincy.
I think Rex Ryan and the rest of the D will very much like to know the play calls, snap counts, and line adjustments that the Bengals won't have time to change before we play on Sunday.

the question is who starts at LT? Terry or Gaither?

the question is who starts at LT? Terry or Gaither?
Assuming Anderson is plugged in at RT ASAP, this is the question.
I think most agree that Terry is much better as a LT and Gaither is also projected there.
Either way the move solidifies the RT spot and enables the coaches to have option of Gaither/Terry at LT.
My gut tells me that Gaither will be the nod at LT.
I still see Gaither at LT and Terry at RT to start Sunday's game. Anderson might see some snaps.

I see Anderson taking the RT role in a hurry. I also think Terry takes the LT role, which gives Gaither more time to mature.
All of a sudden, I like our line.

I don't see any decent reason for why Terry would take the LT spot from Gaither. Gaither has played both sides well in college (that's all we've got to go on for either side), Terry has played the right side poorly in the pro's. Considering that, if Terry was plan A at LT, I don't see why we'd have put him on his weaker side up until this point of the season.
I think Gaither stays starter at LT, Anderson takes the RT spot and Terry is the swingman backup, yes Terry's a better LT than RT, but he's not a better LT sufficiently (short term or long term) than Gaither to stunt his development by having a marginal upgrade.

There ya go chicken littles, stick that in your pipe(or glass rose) and smoke it.
FWIW, I think he's a starter on the rt side by week 3 at hte latest, and Gaither starts at LT until he proves unhealthy or unworthy, with Terry beign a well above average backup on both sides.

That would be my best guess.
Can't see them cutting Cousins since he was just drafted.

To me this is a great sign. He is a solid citizen a good player and adds a veteran stability to what I think is a young and very talented O Line.

It is on there now, saying he is coming to Baltimore tomorrow. It quotes media sources but they would not post it if it was not true. Probably a physical from being fact.

No doubt about it Stockers,
Gaither had a monster game against the Falcons. I'd guess Terry has never played 23 consecutive plays as dominantly as Gaither did last Thursday. In addition, after I did the post on Gaither, I went back to watch Terry. He was utterly horrible. Terry was beaten badly in pass protection and failed to engage on most of the running plays. I know most of the runs went left, but I'm convinced some of those were Rice looking for the hole rather than design.

This is great pick up! A seasoned veteran at the right tackle position:happyanim If only they would have had Anderson when Kyle Boller was tatooed on the right side against the Vikings, maybe he wouldn't have injured his shoulder and been out for the season....:o

So we lose Terry - the reason why Boller got injured in the first place, and lose Boller - who was, lets face it, not up to it anyway. This is going to make a lot of people happy!!!

Terry wasn't the reason Boller got injured, it was Cousins playing rt (terribly I might add) at the time.
On a different note, that contract of 3 years 11.5 million dollars and 3.5 million guaranteed would suggest that someone got a :141847_smmackbottom as a result of the McNair contract fiasco.
Good, maybe now we will see high salary low signing bonus contracts for aging vets on this team instead of cap killing deals like the McNair contract.

I think sadly Kracalik gets the boot...it makes me sad because the guy did play well enough to actually earn a roster spot instead of being defaulted into it. Sure, he was no JO, but he played well enough to be a solid backup. But, we're not likely to drop Cousins, and unless Kracalik can play G, he won't bounce Hale either.
In any case, I see a big swing with this signing, and I also want to see some of those Ozzie haters eating some crow...
This offseason may have been quiet, but we picked up Lorenzo Neal and Willie Anderson, two good vet signings. The only thing you can complain about is that we didn't make a move for a good vet backup at QB, but I wouldn't blame him for that, since you don't want to take a cap hit to cut Boller.

According to Aaron, the deal includes a $1.67 million signing bonus. Where did you see that he's getting $3.5 million guaranteed? Maybe the deal also includes a roster bonus which would make up the difference.
If he's paid $1.67 million guaranteed, you can look at this as a complete no-lose proposition. The Ravens could release him after this season and not get crushed by the move.
My guess is that it's a back-loaded deal. But I'll leave it up to our resident capologist B-More Ravor to crunch the numbers.
In any case, if nothing else, Anderson will provide tremendous insurance. That alone makes this a huge signing, considering that every NFL team needs three competent tackles.
Plus, Anderson is only 33. There are a number of linemen who have continued to play at a pretty high level past the age of 30. He's not the same player he was before -- but bear in mind he was arguably the best right tackle in the game.
For the Ravens sake, he just needs to play at the same level that Tony Pashos played at in '06.

I know the focus is on pass protection, but anyone have a handle on what level his run blocking is?
I see what looks like some road graders across the center of the line. Brown, Grubbs and even Yanda, if we are getting a T who can consistantly seal the edge or free the G next to him for second level work, I can smell 5+ yd running game, opening Cam's passing scapel.

Great pickup. IMO Terry is the weak link on the starting O-line. Saying that, I am more than happy for him to be the #2 at both tackle positions. Protecting Flacco has to priority #1 and adding Anderson and Neal the last couple weeks does just that.

swweeeeeett. he may well start Sunday. given his age and some injury history I'm sure Terry will see some playing time at RT.
this season is looking a WHOLE lot better now.

I think Anderson will be just fine in the running game. His pass blocking is way above average and his run blocking is even better.
One heck of a signing all the way around. I actually, maybe, possibly might not weep bitterly at the thought of our offensive line this season. Of course I'll have to come up with a new nickname because "The very offensive-line" doesn't quite seem to fit anymore.
And since the lad is from Auburn, I have to give my special smiley!

How are the Bungles favored to beat us? They were not a better team with Big Willy, Rudi and Deltha O'Neal, and Jeremi Johnson, how could they be without them?
The Ravens have some injury questions and concerns in the secondary, but the Bungles WRs and QB have been all beat up cut open this preseaon. They even brought back a well known criminal WR who will not be able to play for 4 weeks because the lack of depth and production there.

If he signs today is there a realistic chance he will play, even start, on Sunday?
As for who gets cut I do think it's Kracalik but maybe he can be sent to the PS? I'm not sure how that works being he made the 53 roster. Is he outright released?
If he can go to the PS then Joe Rietz is the other OL on the squad.

Are you saying it was Terry playing Right Tackle when Boller got hit? Because he wasn't, it was Cousins.
No way will they let Adam Terry loose, it should be Cousins that goes

Anderson is to get a $1.67 million bonus with an $830,000 salary plus $1 million for 40 percent play time. That would give him $3.5 million for the year compared to the $3.1 million he was scheduled to get from the Bengals. Last week Anderson turned down a reduced deal from the Bengals that would have paid him the full $3.1 million if he hit certain play-time figures.
I would venture to say that, if healthy, he will easily play 40% of the offensive snaps thus earning the $3.5 million.
Basically, it's a $1,000,000 bonus if he plays more than 40%.

won't ever happen but god knows we'll make a guy who gets about 8-10 sacks one of the higher paid passrushers in the league and we'll give a 33 year old lb a 30+ mill bonus.
I was shocked to hear Willie say that the players in Cincy look up to the Ravens organization. The way they run things here and for the most part take care of their players. Shouldn't be that shocked Cincy sucks monkey balls when it comes to management.

i think some of you are underestimating the amount of time it will take him to learn the offense. although it's not as difficult to learn as a position like qb it's still alot to process. imagine it was the same situation but with a qb. there's no way we'd even be considering having him start despite there being (arguably) more of a need. i'd say week 3 at earliest to start.
