Anybody going to this game?

I want to do a Ravens away game this year but they are either: Miami-airfare too expensive, Giants-tickets too expensive, Dallas-airfare too expensive or Cleveland-forget it. Cincinnati seems like a good bet, tickets are reasonable, I know the area having been there a few times and I can drive there (although its a long drive). But I'd rather not take my chances of being the only Ravens fan there.

Mav. I would actually consider this. Let me know if you further contemplate this.

dave, cool, i will keep posting on this one. i checked stubhub for tix and they had some in the $51 range in the high end zone and upper tank, which is pretty reasonable considering the face value is higher than that. and the cincinnati/newport, ky waterfront area is chock full of bars and restaurants. downtown 'nati sucks (for the most part) but the waterfront area is enjoyable

Sounds good. We have some time to hash a plan out.

I live here in Bungletown. If you guys end up coming here, PM me if you have any questions about lodging, restaurants, etc. I can even give you my cell # if you have any last minute problems or questions.

A lot of people stay in Northern Kentucky and walk across the bridges for the game.

I do know that with these bandwagoners jumping off, ticket prices are dropping fast around here. You may do well scalping.

cool man. i know when i've been in the 'nati before i've stayed in sharonville, which has a lot of hotels, gas stations and fast food joints but is about 20 mins outside the city. no. kentucky would be better for sure, although walking over the roebling suspension bridge is downright terrifying to me, lol.

dave, if you're still in for this one i am. i was thinking of getting tickets early next month. i'll check up on accomodations. you want to exchange emails to hash out a plan?

anybody else want to get in on this? be nice to have a pack of ravens fans invading that stadium.

Sharonville is a good location especially if you're driving. You could catch a shuttle to the game or chip in on a cab and then head up I 71 to Columbus for the trip home. If you're flying, check out AirTran or some of the other discount airlines that fly into Dayton. I'm flying out of Dayton for a 4 day weekend in OC next month, and got a really nice deal. Dayton's only an hour away and can save you $$$$$$$$$$$$$ (to spend on beer)

Downtown does suck, but there are a few small crazy bars that fill up before the game. Tina's is one. Most of the tailgating happens at Longworth Hall (looks a bit like the Camden Warehouse).

I may be able to grab a few brews with you the night before or at tailgaiting if I'm in town. Maybe I'll bring my wife so we'll have a Bengals fan to harass.

orioleway, i was planning on driving. i know its a long one but i've done it before and even though gas sucks these days, i'm pretty sure filling up my hyundai four times will cost less than flying there at this point. i'll check up on the longworth hall. i know some of the bars across the river in newport which i've had fun at.

we can excahnge emails to hook up before the game. it's funny you mention harassing a bengals fan because i was hoping a buddy of mine who lives in l.a. and is a huge bengals fan would be in town (since its just after thanksgiving) and i could harrass him but alas...

Driving's not bad, I've been doing the 8 hours to Western Md. for years. There's the route through Columbus, which is mostly interstate.

We use another route that is a bit more "as the crow flies", but the big advantage is very few trucks. Goes through Athens Ohio. Let me know if you want me to run it by you.

mavhimself
09-26-2008, 11:27 AM
yeah, i'll likely take the interstate route. other than the part where you go through downtown columbus its pretty clear for the most part. from outside pittsburgh to columbus you can pretty much drive like dale jr at daytona, lol.

btw, tickets for this game are available on stubhub for as low as $40 each. upper tank seats obviously but $40 nonetheless (face value is $64) hell, in bmo we haven't seen $40 seats in roughly a decade.

Incoming folks: I just realized that I will be in Maryland for Thanksgiving on 11/30. Let me know if you have any other questions about the area, and I'll still be happy to give you my cell # if you need last minute advice on doing anything here.

As you may have suspected, ticket prices are dropping faster thatn the stock market.

Hubby & I are actually thinking about jumping in the truck and making this trip. StubHub tickets are as low as $18 now. But, we could sit Ravens sideline, like 5 rows off the field for around $50. Plus, gas is down. Why not?

Alright people. I just saw tickets on Ebay for $0.99. That's right. For less than the cost of a soda, you can get 2 tickets for an NFL game. Put away the turkey and head to Cincy. Let's paint that town purple. We're definitely going but not leaving until Saturday. Anybody doing an pre-game drinking on Sunday?

I am considering doing this game as an add-on from my trip to Baltimore. Does anyone have an extra ticket or is anyone interested in going in on some tickets so I know that I can be sitting with a Ravens fan as I am the only one from my family that would be doing this, assuming I do?? Thanks!

howdy, sorry it's been so long since i've posted here. for those that are in, I can accomodate up to 4 tickets at around $20 a piece. the hotel i've stayed at before is about $38 for 2 people in a room. it's in sharonville, about 15 miles outside cincinnati. it's not exactly the plaza but its a roof and a place to pass out, plus there's a white castle nearby. anybody want to ride with me, let me know by friday. i'll be driving up there in the morning of nov. 28.

azravenfan,

i can probably hook you up. i was planning on getting 4 tickets and can save one for you. my plan was to go there on friday if that's ok with you?

As my travel plans go I was supposed to fly back w/family from BWI on Sat am. I have researched that I can take Greyhound to Columbus and then taxi to airport to get rental car sort of like a red-eye and arrive early-mid morning on Saturday. Do you have an idea where the seats would be? How sure are you on these tickets?

mavhimself
11-18-2008, 01:27 PM
The seats can be just about anywhere, there's a lot available on stubhub. the prices for this game are absurdly cheap, good seats are going for nothing. the main competition we'd have to worry about is from other ravens fans. I was planning on ordering friday, hopefully earlier, depending on how quick responses are. sooner rather than later obviously. i just wanted to be sure how many i have to order, although i'm hoping for 3-4.

so you can be down there saturday?

azravenfan
11-18-2008, 01:35 PM
i should be there at some point on Saturday. I PM'd you here a while ago with my cell number so we can talk.

Let me know about the tickets before you get them. I may be inclined to chip in a little more for better tickets, as I am not fully committed to this game. I just hope the Ravens are too!!

mavhimself,

There are $28 club level tickets all over the stadium. i was thinking about midfield on the bengals side so the sun won't be in our faces. Let me know what you think as I will be in town starting tomorrow.

Jay,

ok. i will check razorgator and see what is out there. are you going to be at the game or in b-more this sunday?

as of right now i just have you and me committed. i'm hoping to hear back from some others but if i don't hear from them tomorrow i'm just going to go ahead and get tix for me and you. getting 2 tix looks a lot easier anyway and in these tough economic times my wallet will surely thank me for that, lol.

azravenfan
11-20-2008, 11:18 AM
Yes, I'm flying out tomorrow and will be at Eagles game this Sunday. I definitely am committed to this game, my air tickets take me home from Columbus on Monday, so I am in on this. I sent you a PM.

got your pm. i checked out razorgator and found some reasonable options. i'll run them by you later tonight.

where is everybody tailgating for this?

just wanted to say thanks to all i ran intoduring the trip to cincinnati, specifically jay and the ravens roost 18 in glen burnie. you guys made it a very memorable and fun trip (a ravens blowout win helps as well!) and i hope to see you guys around again. i also want to give big thanks (even though they are probably not reading this) to the roach gang, who despite being bengals fans/gluttons for punishment, welcomed a bunch of ravens fans to cincinnati and composed themselves with a ton of goodwill, friendship and class. it was a great trip and hopefully we can all do that one again next year!
