Damn, they don't carry this game in Hanover, PA. I'll have to check here for updates...

Vikings radio broadcast (thanks to JDub on the Scout board)

Apparently we've been pretty ugly thus far.

RavenScallywag
08-25-2006, 07:33 PM
yes, I've been monitoring the NFL.com GameCast...

our defense needs to wake up, BIG TIME!

RavenFanatic2k6
08-25-2006, 07:37 PM
We look just like we did last year on the road. Not good.

RavenFanatic2k6
08-25-2006, 07:42 PM
Pathetic on both sides. 2 TOs used in the first Q offensively. Ogden is getting violated big time.

Raveninwoodlawn
08-25-2006, 07:45 PM
Defense has been a joke...short passes and tackling in the open field have left a lot to be desired.

The offense...well, I don't think McNair has thrown a pass further than 5 yards downfield and the run ahs been getting bottled up.

JonG316

Oline is playing like last year, Pashos and right side are getting owned.

RavenFanatic2k6

Nice to see we are still the same old Ravens on the road....sigh...

Raveninwoodlawn

The offense is looking progressively worse each game.

Pashos looks horrible. This is not good.

Sephy

Pashos is as sad a sack as they get. I don't think he's blocked his man once.

Am I the only one watching this thinking this is the same old Ravens?

Sephy

There are certainly some similarities.
-Same crap OL play.
-Same uninventive playcalling (temporary pass for it being preseason)
-Overly complex defensive scheme that effectively reduces the individual talent of the players.
-Poor scheming for quick passes and TEs.

McNair made one bad decision. I won't kill him too much. It was a really, really bad one, but the QB of time past made way more than that in a half.

RavenFanatic2k6
08-25-2006, 08:32 PM
Billick needs to find out what it is that makes the OL play so bad on the road. They can play reasonably well at home, as they did the past two weeks, but it all falls apart on the road.

And I think Rex Ryan needs to get back to basics. Find a way to defend the TE. Forget his complex playbook until we can execute simple schemes.

Art-Florida

Poor Sephy, he's torn. LOL

Run it on this one, Sephy. Most of the regulars have registered here anyway.

Ease up on McNair, people, it's hjis pre-season too, anjd he is still getting the nuances of the playbook down and learning the capabilities of his teamates.

It will be ironic though, if Boller comes in the second half and once again wins the game.

You can check my thread on the other board if it makes you happy. Its 10-0 Vikings right now. McNair looked OK, but threw a pick for 6. Defense playing great against the run, poorly against the pass, especially quick passes.

Screw it, I'll do the second half here. Test run, if you will!

Block in the back on the return.
1st for Boller at the 9, the carry for Anderson gets 1 if he's lucky.
2nd and 9, pass caught by Mughelli, gain of 5. Chester and Brown are in, I think our second string interior line is better than our first.
3rd and 4, nice pass to Darling gets to the 25 and a first down.
1st, pass for Sypniewski batted down, a bit telegraphed.
2nd, draw for Anderson for a gain of 2 or 3.
3rd and long, false start.
3rd and 12, Boller stares down his primary target, just sitting and waiting for him to come open, he doesn't so he tucks and runs. Tried to hit Moore on the sideline, but no dice.
Punt return stopped at the 30.

RavenFanatic2k6
08-25-2006, 08:47 PM
What is Moore doing out there...Williams??

And is our second string OL really better, or are they better because they are playing against second string guys? Regardless, the big problem in the first half was Pashos, and we don't have a replacement for him. There is nobody. Unless we explore trade options with one of our RBs.

Sephy
08-25-2006, 08:50 PM
1st, carry for Mathis gets about 1. Ngata really getting pushed around.
2nd and 9, better push for Ngata this time, still stood up though, but the quick pass falls incomplete.
3rd, McMahon chucks it somewhat deep for Barton. Weak play by #29.
1st down from the Ravens 40, complete to McMullen for 5.
2nd and 5, delayed give to Harris for 1.
3rd and 4, SACK by Mike Smith! Another good effort from him. Can't believe he's on the bubble. Penalty on Minny declined.
Ross in to return, touchback.

Raveninwoodlawn

Unfortunately...that's it.

And our defense spends so much time running around with exotic blitzes and coverages, they can't defend the short passing game.

if Boller comes in the second half and once again wins the game.

Never going to happen, Art! Just like last season, when he got us excitted in the December night games then choked in Cleveland, you can count on Kyle to panic. Too bad: I would love to see the Ravens get over this PR stunt and have a true QB competition.

:mrt:

Sephy

1st, Daniels for 1.
2nd and 9, Boller looks around, can't find anyone, scrambles right, then sees Moore streaking and throws it too far. Looked open too. Tough throw to make.
3rd, Boller throws to Moore's feet. Horrible.

Sephy

1st, give to Mathis who makes all kinds of cuts and goes for almost 20. Very nice run.
1st from just before midfield, Mathis for 3-4.
2nd and 5-6, McMahon goes deep for Carter, incomplete but a flag goes down. Uncatchable ball, so hopefully they'll wave it off. Or they won't. No way that is catchable.
1st from the 23, Mathis for 3-4.
2nd and 7, McMahon throws it out of the endzone. He's pretty awful, to be honest.
3rd, PA, pass thrown nicely to Carter but off his fingers, incomplete.
BTW, LOL at Moose butching Echemandu's name.

FG is good, 13-0.

Nice play action pass. But it's just looking like we're going to lose another road game.

And is it me, or have the Vikings been putting 8 in the box all night? I thought that was all going to end?

If the offensive line sucks, you attack it. The Vikings have played it right tonight. :/

OMG what a play by Clarence Moore!! What a freaking throw by Boller!!

1st, PA, pass complete to Mughelli for a decent gain.
2nd and 3-4, run stuffed in the backfield.
3rd and 5, pass complete right at the marker to Moore.
1st, deep for Moore, PHENOMENAL CATCH by Clarence Moore! Nice throw too. Used every single inch for a 46 yard gain. WOW.
1st, give to Ross for 9.
2nd and 1, from the Vikings 18, false start.
2nd and 6, ball floated up for Moore, absolute ridiculous throw, but Moore goes up, makes an unbelievable one handed grab, and gets both feet in. Down at the 3. Moore playing like he grew a pair in the offseason.
1st, Ross for 1.
2nd and goal from the 2, PA fake, Boller immediately bootlegs right, and gets into the endzone just by the pylon! 13-7 Minny.

StingerNLG
08-25-2006, 09:12 PM

Like Greg said, Moore didn't have hernia surgery in the off season, they actually attached a pair of testicles on him.

Sephy
08-25-2006, 09:15 PM
Kick returned to the 27. Moore all smiles on the sideline.

1st, Jackson in at QB, who has looked awesome in the preseason, first throw incomplete for #11.
2nd, Jackson trips over his own feet, gets back up, and the Ravens collect the sack. Who else? Mike Smith.
Ngata has been more than unimpressive so far.
3rd and 15, Vikings let the 3rd elapse.

Raveninwoodlawn
08-25-2006, 09:17 PM
Just Dont ask Moore to run any other routes.

If he'll keep making those catches, I don't want to see him anywhere near the middle!

Sephy
08-25-2006, 09:20 PM
Moore has #1 WR potential if he can keep his head in it and make catches consistantly. He has dominating speed and the size speaks for itself. I hate watching him play most of the time, but I'd also hate seeing him go somewhere else and start dominating.

StingerNLG
08-25-2006, 09:22 PM
Well so much for that. One look at a defender coming in, and Moore gets alligator arms again.

Sephy
08-25-2006, 09:23 PM
1st, Moore drops the pass, and gets hit late. No call. There's the typical Moore ballless play.
2nd, Daniels gets about 3.
3rd and 7, Boller way underthrows Sypniewski, and he's lucky Blue didn't pick it off. Moore was 1 on 1 with a short CB, but didn't get a look.

Carter swamped on the return.

08-25-2006, 09:27 PM
1st from the 11, Mathis gets 2.
2nd and 8, Mathis gets 1-2 at most.
3rd and 8, way too much space left for the fleet Jackson to run, and gets 9-10.
1st, Jackson slings it beautifully for Carter who runs allll the way 70+ for the TD. Caught the defense unaware and thrown accurately.
20-7.

RavenFanatic2k6
08-25-2006, 09:32 PM
Needless to say, there is alot of work to be done before Week 1.

They need to find a way to pipe in noise at their practices in an effort to prepare them for playing on the road. I forget what team I read about doing it, might have been a college team, they piped in noise that was at the same level as a jet engine. Honestly I don't know what else it could be. I am just miffed (lol) at how night and day the OL is home and away.

Sephy
08-25-2006, 09:34 PM
1st, Ross for 5.
2nd and 5, Boller dumps to Ross for a gain of 6.
1st, Boller alertly hits Sypniewski really quickly, and gets 9 because of it.
2nd and 1, Boller steps up and just books it all the way into Viking territory. Illegal use of hands on the Vikes puts 5 more at the end of it. Very nice!
1st down from the Minnesota 44, complete to Darling who immediately fumbles. He made the tackle to prevent it from going for 6, but still. You're cut, son.

This lack of spirit play is why we cannot win road games. We are playing sloppy ball.

As for Moore, I am still not sold on him. He does not have sure hands. It is 50/50 whether or not he comes down with the catch. He could have as easily dropped those passes as he could have caught them. There is no confidence in Moore's play.

Why isn't Demetrius getting more throws? As far as I am concerned, Williams is our 3rd string receiver. Moore will probably make it because Billick is gushing over those two catches while ignoring the lack of balls catch.

Does anyone else find that Comcast Radio commercial with Mr. T. hilarious?

"Quit your jibber-jabber! Quit your flibber-flabber!" (That commercial cracks me up).

Based on tonight's performance - and we're almost out of preseason now - I'm starting to think my 8-8 season prediction may have been optimistic. The 30-7 drubbing is reminiscent of the 2005 road show horrors against Detroit, Cincy, and Jax.

By my calculation, the first team offense has scored but 3 points in 3 exhibition games. Have we ever had such a dismal preseason offensive performance? :229031_confused2: Even with Chris Redmond at the helm? :grbac:

I sure hope that Fassel is just playing it close to the vest, and the real Ravens offense shows up in Tampa!

It's only preseason folks. I'll start to worry if we play this bad in Tampa.

They scored a TD against the Giants T, McNair's TD run, so that's 10 points which is still damned poor all the same.

One word,FLAT.

I hope we are not going to see the old Raven up and down rollercoaster ride of 05 in 06.If so then the new coaching methods are falling on death ears.

Actually it's 10 points. Remember McNair ran in a touchdown on his very first drive.

3 points in 2 games though doesn't excite me at all. However, one point of legit defense: it should have been 6 points in 2 games. Stover missed his field goal attempt last night. Just like in Indy. :(
