Shocker. How late into the season could he be removed from said list if needed and Favray? Week 6 or whenever?

Very good player...the only player on those pitiful Bengal teams that I really liked and respected.

I will always think of him as a Bengal, but he stepped in and really helped last year and was a real warrior.

The NFL could use a lot more Willie Andersons...

I think Willie saw the writing on the wall with the Oher pick.

I think he'd rather just call it quits now then be cut on the teams' terms.

He played pretty well last year while dealing with some injuries.

I bet he had more fun playing in 08 than he did his entire time in Cincy.

He may have been asked to delay this news until now. Oz may have known this in April or before(pure speculation). It would have been hard to get Oher where we did if it was well known we were looking for an OT.
Oher's being picked simply left no room for WA.

I think that is actually most likey exactly what went down. There were some retirement rumblings around the same time Oz had everyone thinking he was thinking Wr that were quickly dismissed.

Like the stories about McNair working out at the Castle looking good, right before hanging them up before the draft when we were now known to be looking for a QB, it became a lot harder to trade up, and we had to trade up and get Flacco instead of sitting at 26 becaue our #1 need was obvious.

This year the Ravens kept kicking the tires on tackles, but still spun it like they were all about getting a Wr.

Anyone know the cap implications?

I think it's about $2.5 Million in the right direction.

Yup. Something in that neighborhood.

Little breathing room to make a move on a guy if someone shakes loose over the summer.

Kelley Washington will likely cost us arounda Half Million or so agaisnt the cap, likely earning nearly a Million dollars.

2.9 million saved.

K. Washington will get the minimum, and it will probably be a Minimum Salary Benefit, so it will only count 460k against the cap, thus not affecting cap room.

Cap savings is 2.9MM, Gusbus is right.

My opinion, Willie was not able to go this past weekend. More injuries and different ones from last year. I really expected the Ravens to cut him this week, they probably sat down with him and tried to do the decent thing. Willie was done and I think they all knew it after this past weekend.

We are lucky we got Oher, we would really be sweating it if we didn't.

No luck at all.

Ozzie always plans for the future and wanted protection for the franchise.

That was Oher.

Funnily enough, I agree. Oz does this on a fairly regular basis in my opinion. We add Ed Reed just as we lose Rod Woodson. We get Heap as Sharpe enters the twilight of his career. Now we add Oher when EVERYONE (including me) thought we were going WR... and apparently Oz was targeting Oher from the beginning.

The Ravens are becoming even more deceptive that in the past when it comes to the draft. Good for us and bad for the rest of the league . I'll miss Willie, he had a good year with us. This Oher pick just became and even bigger deal. I like those flashbacks of getting Heap when we had Sharpe and the Ed Reed/Rod Woodson pick. This is in that mold and I believe that the Ravens went into the draft knowing something about Will Andy's condition so a tackle may have been in the cards early anyway.

I think Peerman will be awesome at some point, but will have to make his mark on special teams in the mean time. He was a steal, steal, steal IMO. Imagine if he didn't get injured at Virginia. He goes at least three rounds earlier. I'm hoping he can fully recover from that injury as that can effect speed and explosiveness ie Freeney. I believe he had the same injury as him.

Oz is some man for holding his cards to his chest, I bet he knew that was coming from the end of last season. Ohers time to step up and fill the position for years to come!:ww:
