Dade

Flacco looking good (looking at espn gamecast) 3/3 40 yards, 3 first downs.

Matt Stover, I think Harbaugh is dialing your number....jeesh, looks like we're carrying an extra roster spot for kickoffs again this year. Although on the plus side, I think Gano wins the kickoff battle, and having a year with Stover might be just the medicine he needs...

WTF Heap?

....and a wonderful pass to Washington!!!

Raveninwoodlawn
08-29-2009, 07:41 PM
Other than holding the ball too long on that sack in the red zone, man...Flacco looks SHARP!

That pass to Heap was just further evidence to me that Heap is nearing the end. It hit him cleanly in both hands in stride with a step on his man and he dropped it.

If Washington had anymore speed, that would have been a TD.

Heeeaaaaappppp! Td!!!

Raveninwoodlawn

I don't think I've ever seen a Ravens QB look this sharp.

If Washington had anymore speed, that would have been a TD.

Joe did lead him out of bounds a little....

No points on the first drive... But moving the ball and picking up firsts real well.

Dade
08-29-2009, 07:51 PM
Joe is 7 for 8 107 yards. average yards per pass 13.3. Impressive.

Dade
08-29-2009, 07:57 PM
Joe comes out firing.

Dade

Running game really hasn't picked up. But Joe is carrying the offense.

Wow...I'm liking this Flacco to Rice connection!

RavensInBrazil

Goddamn Joe's slinging the ball all over the place. I know it's pre-season, but I would love to be watching this right now

What impresses me most about Flacco is his ability to keep drives alive - I noticed this throughout the playoffs last year and during this pre-season, he always seems to deliver the key 3rd-down pass. Guess credit must also go to Cam

Keep it up Trap. Thank for the play by play. Just trying to work at the same time.

RavenScallywag
08-29-2009, 08:41 PM
ok, thi is just ridiculous now...Flacco sounds like he's in postseason form!

Does TV disagree (not watching the game on TV, only online stats)

Oh damn it Oher...shape up quick, these penalties are killing us

4G63
08-29-2009, 08:42 PM
Oher is learning a lot from this game....

Please keep up the play by play if you can. For those of us not in the radio/tv area you are a Godsend!!

RavenScallywag
08-29-2009, 08:45 PM
I'd rather give Hauschka the chance to redeem himself...Gano will get some shots eventually, but I think we know who has the clear edge in the battle anyway.

Dade
08-29-2009, 08:46 PM
Even with that miss earlier Hauska seems to have won the starting job.

purple bird
08-29-2009, 08:48 PM
From what I've read throughout the preseason, it seems like the Gano/Haushka decision will be more of a "lesser of two evils" decision. Having the FG kicker miss what should be routine kicks is very unsettling.

RavenScallywag
08-29-2009, 08:50 PM
K.J. Gerard has a real shot at making this team...I think Rolle goes on PUP and we go with Foxworth, Washington, Carr, Webb, Walker, and Gerard. I think Gerard can play safety too?

I'd have the final DB spot going to Derrick Martin or K.J. Gerard, and I hear Gerard has been REAL impressive.

#12 is Beck btw...would be suprised if he goes in before Troy Smith...would probably heat up the rumour mill.

Good sack JJ!!

RavenScallywag
08-29-2009, 08:55 PM
ok, I'm actually a bit relieved then...didn't want Anita Marks to scream on Monday about Troy Smith getting traded for Marshall.

And right away, a hook up to DWIL! nice

RavenScallywag
08-29-2009, 08:57 PM
can someone chime in tonight on how Demetrius Williams looks on the plays? Stat wise, looks like he's getting in there and making his plays, but stats don't always tell the truth.

Dade
08-29-2009, 08:57 PM
Joe was 23 for 28 247 yards, average 8.8 YPA 1 TD

Just imagine when he plays a full game. And for the third week he hit 6 different receivers.

purple bird
08-29-2009, 08:57 PM
I've heard some rumors about Smith for Marshall being offered by the Ravens in the past. Any truth to it?

Did they put up joes rating? Cause that stat line is real impressive.

Dade
08-29-2009, 09:02 PM
Over 300 yards total offense through 3 quarters is pretty damn good for the first string. Hopefully this translate to the regular season.

Did Walker blow coverage?

If he looks bad tonight and next week, I think he's gone. I appreciate his value as a "physical corner" but I was listening to the radio coverage and they were saying the philosophy on D now is we don't NEED our corners to help in run support, we value cover corners better.

Cutting Walker gives us a lot of money and lets us keep KJ Gerard or Derrick Martin.

RavenScallywag
08-29-2009, 09:11 PM
One thing we've had in common with Carolina tonight...RED ZONE PENALTIES! Jeesh, they really aggrevate you, don't they!

RavenScallywag
08-29-2009, 09:13 PM
This Talavou guy would be a GREAT guy to make the team, but I think the depth in front of him sadly knocks him out.

RavenScallywag
08-29-2009, 09:14 PM
Scally - yea, somebody blew coverage - # 21 but the guy cut across middle.

Burgess was down there and guy caught the ball in front of him and someone else.

That would be Webb then, not Walker. Webb will get better with time, I think he could REALLY make a big impact this year.

RavenScallywag
08-29-2009, 09:17 PM
no sweat...Fabian Washington is 31.

glad we held them on 3rd and 1...I'll give them that TD on 4th and 1, let's take up some time on offense...

CAR kicks extra point.

14-- 10.

Ravens

but it was their scrubs vs our scrubs.

We totally stunk the house up.

it wasn't their scrubs, but we did have ours in. they had their starting OL in the game for that drive still.

RavenScallywag

Frank Walker apparently blocked the PAT! That would be because he was offsides :grbac:

Nice try Frank.

troy threw to edgar jones in the flats, ball hit him right in the face, corner picked it off on the way to make the tackle

Smith threw a pick to Wesley at about the Carolina 17.

RavenScallywag
08-29-2009, 09:33 PM
Troy threw to Edgar Jones, who dropped it and Car grabbed for an INT...sounds like more Edgar's fault than Troy's...

I'm heading to bed. Thanks TRAP for the play by play and commentary!

JOE hit 75% of his passes.

He said we were in rhTHYm.

We have to work on those penaltes.

No shit.

All that from

JOE I WONT GIVE YOU MY AUTOGRAPH FLACCO.

He was even better than that. He was 23-28 which is 82%.

Btw thanks to all u guys in the Baltimore area for putting up the play by play. I'm in jersey and naturally they put on chargers and falcons cause San diego and atlanta are much closer to nj than Baltimore.

Trap.... Harper did not drop 2 passes. One was an inaccurate pass from Troy that got first tipped by the Panther defender. Harper almost made a nice catch afterwards but couldn't come down with the ball . The other drop, I have no clue.

I think tonite proves that we really dont need a #1 WR like Marshall this season. Sure it would help next season but we are talking 2009. No wideout this year could come in, learn the playbook quickly, and fit well within the framework of the offense scheme. They would absolutely screw up the growth of Flacco and the chemistry developing with the current crop of WRs.

Harper has plenty of potential...

The potential to make Braylon Edwards look like Steve Largent, with all his drops.

RavensInBrazil
08-30-2009, 01:16 AM
My favourite play of the game was the one where Steve Smith caught the ball and started running, got caught by Reed and then LEVELED by...Ngata?? When a DT runs to tackle one of the best WRs in the game after a long catch, I'm impressed

Maybe Im wrong, but I swear on the replay the almost one hand catch by Harper initially dinged off his own hands. The CB was close to getting it, but I thought that was all Harper. I dont remember the second drop either. Washington might get that #2 spot if he keeps up the consistency. I chalk his lack of production in the past to injuries and opportunity. Looking back look who he was playing behind in both former teams. Hell Mason would be the third WR on those teams as well. I think he suits us well. He was a nice product coming out of TN and I thought that he would have a better than average career coming out of college. This could be his prime years for production when smarts and ability come together as one. Go Kels!

I watched the game again and it most definitely hit the defenders hands first.
