Back, phew.

To pad this post to something meaningful, it's tough for a season opener not to be a must win, but I think we all now too well just 'how' must win this game is, doesn't kill the season by losing but we gotta stop this skid, quick.

Jamal looks FAST.

Sephy
09-10-2006, 12:02 PM
McNair coming on, here we go! CBS' new ticker looks weird.

Crowd is loud.

1st, I-form, give to Jamal, gain of 2 or so.
2nd and 8, Wilcox in, quick hit to Mason, gain of 9-10, first down!
1st, give to Jamal who makes his own hole and gets 4-5.
2nd and 5, give to Jamal who has a huge hole, gets a block from Clayton, GREAT block, and a gain of 12 and a first!!!

Sephy
09-10-2006, 12:04 PM
1st from the 48, Jamal tries to go off tackle, comes back inside, gain of 4. Flag down. Holding on Mughelli. Probably didn't even need it.
1st and 20, McNair steps up, tosses to Heap and he makes a great grab and gets to the Bucs 47. What a catch. Lots of Heap cheers, must be some Baltimorons there!

Sephy
09-10-2006, 12:07 PM
Heap catch was for 14.
2nd and 6, quick hit to Mason again, gain of 7, first down!
1st from the 41, Jamal for 3-4.
2nd and 7, McNair chased out of the pocket on the play action, goes deep for Mason which was a prayer really, incomplete.
3rd, McNair hits Mason over the middle for 15, WIDE OPEN, first down!!!

Merlin
09-10-2006, 12:08 PM
A very auspicious start -- this is unlike anything last year in its relentlessness so far. McNair with GREAT pocket presence

Sephy
09-10-2006, 12:10 PM
1st down from the Bucs 23, Musa in the backfield, give to him, and Musa just chugs forward pushing the pile for 6! Excellent run and effort.
2nd and 4, Mason goes to the sideline, give to Musa who tries to go off tackle, and nothing was there so its no gain, maybe a loss of 1.
3rd and 4, Mason back in, shotgun 2 RB, going for Mason, incomplete but Barber is called for PI! He looked like he got there early. YEAH!

Merlin
09-10-2006, 12:10 PM
FYI -- Mughelli most penalized fullback last year

Sephy
09-10-2006, 12:11 PM
Definite early contact. Ticky tack, but it was early.
1st and 10 from the 11, 2 TE, Jamal slams in, gets 7, down to the 4-5!.
2nd and 3, at the 4, Jamal off tackle left, TOUCHDOWN RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Irishraven
09-10-2006, 12:12 PM
Jamal!!!!! TD!"!!!!!

09-10-2006, 12:12 PM

1st, PA rollout, Simms just keeps rolling, tucks it down and gets 3.
2nd and 7, another PA fake and rollout, pass intended for Allstott dropped and SMACKED by AD.
3rd and long, Simms NAILED as he throws on the blitz, pass caught by the RB, and he is UPENDED for a loss by Ed Reed.

YES!!!

Sams gets it to the 27.

1st, Musa in, I form, 2 TE, play action and a guy was all over McNair, but he stands in, floats one to Wilcox, who grabs it and gets 13. Fabulous.
1st, from the 40, false start on Wilcox.
1st and 15, PA, McNair has all day, goes for Heap incomplete. McNair still ends up on his butt.
2nd, shotgun draw to Musa, fumbled handoff, and Musa picks it up and tries to get something, but its a loss of 2 or so.
3rd and 17, McNair loses the ball trying to throw it. Ball slips right out, recovered by Steve.

Koch on to punt. BOOMED to the 24. Fantastic punt.

Sephy
09-10-2006, 12:30 PM
1st, give to Caddy who has tons of space on the edge, gets about 6-7.
2nd and 3, quick pass to Galloway who just straight up drops it. Easy gain of 6 yards thrown away.
3rd, Ravens blitzing, Becht moves right and is allowed the easy short pass, gain of about 7, first down. Why must the TE go uncovered in this D?
1st from the 43, give to Caddy for 6, and a flag comes down. Tackle by..Dwan Edwards?? Holding on TB.

Admin Steve
09-10-2006, 12:30 PM

Don't worry Beer, I've got to leave in a couple of minutes, but I'm TiVoing AND I have Superfan which compacts the game into 30 minutes.

Sephy
09-10-2006, 12:42 PM
1st, I form, give to Caddy who is lucky to get 1-2.
2nd and 9, Simms pass for Becht over the middle is dropped as Ray and Bart were coming in.
3rd and long, Bucs in a very weird formation, Simms has a lot of time, hits Pittman for about 9 yards, punt time!

Bucs challenging the spot.
Bucs were in a formation with the RB split out right, but he was back at the QB's depth.

Hope it doesn't get overturned.

BTW, a little OT, Kerry Collins is making the start at Tennessee vs. NYJ today.

Sephy
09-10-2006, 12:50 PM
1st from the 20, Jamal up the middle for 2-3.
2nd and 8, Wilcox split out, McNair hurried and throws it behind Heap and low. Incomplete.
3rd, shotgun empty backfield, pass is caught by Clayton RIGHT at the first down line. Will be close. An INCH short.

Apparently Billick is challenging. Shit, I'd just go for it.

crowdog89
09-10-2006, 12:53 PM
Looks like they originally spotted it about 4-5 inches short. A qb sneak would probably make it....Billick looked like he was trying to hide the challenge.

Ruling on the field stands...

Ravens punt.

Sephy

Sephy
09-10-2006, 12:56 PM
1st, Caddy wrapped up in the backfield as he tries to go off tackle for no gain. Great play by AD!
2nd and 10, Simms hits Caddy out of the backfield, gain of about 7.
3rd and 3, Ray deflects the pass intended for Becht. Absolutely brilliant coverage by Ray. Suggs was NAILING Becht if Ray wasn't there. No chancer right there. Punt out at the 13.

1st from the 14, and in the most predictable play in history, give to Jamal in the I-form, no gain, maybe a loss.
2nd and 10, McNair pressured, way underthrown for Heap, hit the turf about 2 yards behind him.
3rd, blitz coming, McNair hits Williams for a gain of 9. Unfortunately not enough, but a nice play by Demetrius.

Returned to the 35 or thereabouts.

Sephy
09-10-2006, 01:03 PM
1st from the 37, Simms getting tons of time, complete to Caddy who slips a tackle and gets 8.
2nd and 2, give to Caddy for 4. Saw some really blatant holding there.
1st, at midfield, TO Bucs.

Irishraven
09-10-2006, 01:03 PM
Has MA ran at all? How is the D looking?

Sephy
09-10-2006, 01:06 PM
1st, complete to Clayton, gain of around 3. First WR completion in the game for TB.
2nd and 6, pass tipped at the line by the DTs. Actually, Suggs got in there for the tip.
3rd, Simms getting time, pass intended for Clayton is broken up by C-Mac! Great play by Chris. Shutdown corner! Offensive hands to the face penalty is declined.
Ball downed at the 6.

Sephy
09-10-2006, 01:07 PM
Nothing for Anderson so far. Pass rush hasn't been very good except on blitz. C-Mac playing well.

1st from the 7, offset I, play action, a guy right on McNair, dumped to Green, who breaks a tackle at the LOS, and gets about 3.

Buc down on the field, Spires.

Sephy
09-10-2006, 01:11 PM
2nd and 8, another PA, pass overthrown for Heap by floats in for Mason, incomplete. Lots of contact there, surprised at no flag!
3rd, PA again, complete to Musa for about 4-5. Punt time again. Great tackle by Kelly.

Stills makes the tackle just inside Ravens territory.

skimmy
09-10-2006, 01:12 PM
Tampa has totally flipped the field position getting the ball in our territory. I like that the Ravens aren't afraid to throw the ball when backed up, but it's not working right now. The offensive line has to get some props for their play so far.

Sephy
09-10-2006, 01:14 PM
1st from the Ravens 42, give to Caddy for 4-5.
2nd and 5, Caddy up the middle and smacked by Ray at the first down line, but for some reason they spot the ball for about an extra 2 yards.
1st from the 31, Caddy for 1. T-Sizzle loses his helmet.
2nd and 9, pass tipped at the line, and PICKED OFF BY NGATA!!! RETURNED INSIDE THE 10!!! RUN BIG MAN RUN!!!!

Gotta keep them from scoring on that opening drive of the 2nd half to keep the crowd from getting back in the game.

Yeah, you summed that up very very well! I think we should take them apart even more so in the 2nd half! They are going to be doing their best to get back into it and will hopfully make some mistakes!

Looking for more turnovers in the second half as Simms is forced to go downfield.

Too early yet guys. We have a rep for not making halftime adjustments to counter those made by the opposition. This one is far from over. If we get another TD, then I'll start to believe.

Pittman returns to the 26.
1st, Simms floats it to Caddy, gain of 4-5, tackled by Ray.
2nd and 5, Caddy starts split wide, then moves to the backfield and another guy comes in to lead block, and the play is BLOWN UP by Bart Scott for a loss of 4!!!
3rd and 9, Scott in on the QB, and SACKED BY BART SCOTT!

Worth. Every. Penny.

Sams returns almost to the Bucs 35.

Bucs player hurt.

Mobtown, dude, they had 35 seconds and no timeouts. If they had gotten points there, it would have been a miracle.

1st down from the Bucs 37, quick pass thrown way over Clayton's head. Steve upset with himself. Announcers talking about humid balls, sweating, etc.
2nd, PA, complete to Heap for 7-8.
3rd and 2, Ravens ran what looked to be a freaking OPTION play, McNair cuts inside and gets 3-4! Wow.

3rd and 2, Ravens ran what looked to be a freaking OPTION play, McNair cuts inside and gets 3-4! Wow.

I think you're right. I think it was going to be a shovel pass or something, but the bucs were in the backfield great improvisation by McNair to get the first down.

Sephy

1st, McNair smacked as he throws, ball flies incomplete. Unsure what he was going for.
2nd from the 26, give to Jamal for 2.
3rd and 8, McNair majorly pressured, scrambles right, and the pass is just off of Clayton's fingertips.

Stover on, 42 yard try.. PERFECT!

20-0. Now a 3 TD lead.

1st, PA, complete to Caddy for 6.
2nd and 4, ball tipped at the line again, and another shot at a pick. Boos really raining down now.
3rd, complete to Alstott, who slips the tackle of AD and gets 7 and a first. Simms got nailed.
1st from the 42, Clayton WIDE open, down to the Ravens 30. Big play, Simms had time. Blitz didn't get there.
1st, from the 31 actually, complete to 81, who slips the tackle of Ed Reed, and gets 18 on the play. Come on D!

1st from the 12, complete to Williams in the backfield, loss of 1-2. Poor play design.
2nd and 11, Simms complete to Alstott, gets 5 or so. Potential fumble ruled down by contact. Those are challengable now.
3rd and 4, Pittman absolutely BLOWN UP BY RAY LEWIS. No catch to say the least. Absolutely ridiculous hit.

Pryce is hurt.

Ball on the 6.

1st, give to Jamal who loses 1. Bucs were all over that. Mix up the running a little bit guys, they can tell what you're doing.
2nd and 11, same exact play again, Jamal gets 1.
3rd and 10, play action, deep for a WIDE OPEN DAN WILCOX ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE RAVENS 40!!! WHAT A CALL!!!

Great call, great throw. Awesome.
1st, Mike Anderson gets his first carry, gain of 1, or no gain.
2nd and 10, Anderson comes out, hehe, I-form, complete to Heap for 8.
3rd and 2, give to Jamal who looked like he would have it, but he cut back outside and got NAILED by Simeon Rice, and fumbles the ball OOB. No gain.

Unbelievable bounce on the punt, could have been downed at the 1 but the Ravens overrun it.

Sephy
09-10-2006, 02:15 PM
1st, Suggs jumps, Caddy gets 6, but I assume they'll take the penalty.
1st and 5, complete to Clayton, gain of 3, laid into by Rolle.
2nd and 2, Pittman gets 1.
Holy crap they showed the Green hit. What a hit.
3rd and very short, Alstott gets 2, ball pops out, Johnson picks it up and takes it back, but they call him down.

1st from the 31, pass caught by Alstott for 9.
Generous spot gives them a first. Really generous.
1st, Simms complete to Becht, and AD NAILS Becht, and he just crumples. LOL, gotta see a replay. Gain of 4.
2nd and 6, Simms gets a ton of time, and it is PICKED OFF BY ED REED! Ed just hopped the route in the air, and wins the ball. I LOVE THIS TEAM!!

Gradkowski gets a nice cheer.
1st from the 30, complete to Becht for 4.
2nd and 6, Gradkowski pressured by Pryce, and hurries a throw to the RB incomplete. Pryce is OK, it seems.
3rd, Ivy CRUSHES Gradkowski on the blitz, and he threw it RIGHT to Jarret Johnson's hands and he drops the pick. SHEESH!

Gonna be a handoff fest, of course.
6 minutes left.
1st, Anderson I think gets 1-2.
2nd and 8, Boller drops the snap (ugh), and grabs it and gains 1.
3rd and 8, Brown in at center and Terry in at LT, delay of game. The Kyle Boller experience.
3rd and 12, Anderson gets a nice carry for 7, and its punt time.

Returned to the 45. Koch goes off gingerly.

1st from the 44, 3:43 left, Suggs with heavy pressure on Gradkowski, who scrambles right, doesn't throw it away, but runs out of bounds 1 yard before the LOS.
2nd and 11, 3:34 left, Gradkowski throws it to god knows where. Must have been a mixup.
3rd, 3:28 left, Scott smacking Gradkowski, and way overthrows his outlet. Toledo isn't Tampa, apparently.

The Ravens have no offense and pin their futile hopes on a washed-up quarterback. Steve McNair's belly is bursting even as we speak as he tries to advance against the Bucs defense.

The Ravens overrated defense is over the hill and declining rapidly. Ray Lewis is a shadow of his former self, and he will die drowning in his own vomited blood.

Great game BUT, don't think for a second that there are no longer problems with the "O" line.

After the opening drive, TB did a decent job of shutting down our running game. McN had 4 three & outs in a row in the 1st half.

Go Ravens!!
