Well, they've got my attention. 4-1 and their division stinks. They could get a first-round bye if they're legit.
Remaining non-division games:
@Detroit
BYE
Cleveland
@Washington
NY Giants
@Baltimore on Thanksgiving (the Harb-bowl)
Pittsburgh

the last two weeks they really surprised me. Gotta say right now they look like they're for real.

Who would have thought a Lions - 49ers game would be the game of the week?

or that Indy and Philly would have one win between them... what a wacky year so far.

They may be legitimate, but from the list above, I only see one game going their way. Their away games are tough from travel as well as fandom at the stadium....let's not forget the defenses they will be facing. I think they'll down the Browns but not sure about the Giants...not that they are stellar. Having us and then the pittsburgh team....It's not gonna go well for them.

They've also had a fairly easy schedule thus far.
Not sure what happened today with the Bucs, but Jim Harbaugh has Alex Smith finally playing good QB.

I don't think Dallas, @Cincy, @Philly, Tampa Bay, is an easy lineup, even if Dallas, Philly, and Tampa are overrated. Going to Cincinnati, playing that defense, and pulling out a scrappy win in week 3 is pretty impressive. They've only played one division game. And it's the worst division in the league. If you think they lose at Seattle because it's hard to play there, fine, but that's still four more wins. Eight wins will probably be enough to win the division already, so whatever they can win from their non-division list is just gravy for playoff seeding.
There is a lot of bend not break in the 49ers defense. Other teams can move the ball on them but they're not so easy to score on. Harbaugh always seemed to exceed expectations at the college level. Looks like he's doing the same in the NFL.

If they keep playing like that, that game at home vs the Steelers could be very interesting.

They are playing good teams for once, unlike last year's cake sched.
Everyone was SOOOO high on them and Freeman, but that was too premature to annoint he and them as the second coming.
49ers at Lions next week is now a must see

49ers have a load of talent. Not sure that Alex Smith is going to do that well here, with Reed licking his chops.
Tampa, I like Freeman, but I stick to what I said in my blog, I'm not sold on the team.
They've got talent at the offensive skill positions (Davis, Crabtree, Edwards, Gore). The question was, could Smith get them the ball, and could Gore stay healthy. I still think Smith will have issues against a strong rush, and Gore is a good back, but will get dinged up as usual. Plus they're coming cross country on a short week for T-day. I'm not overly concerned.
