What a great convention this past weekend in OC!
Thousands of members of the Ravens Roosts, Ravens Nests and Poe's Crows turned Ocean City Raven Purple and a great time was had by all. Stock in the major U.S. breweries had to rise a little as a result.
Ravens players showed up and were able to relax and talk with the fans. Just like regular folks. They included Chris Brown (G), Matt Katula (LS), Mike Kracalik (OT), and Chris Pina (G). At the awards ceremony they got Ed Mulitalo on the phone from Detroit. He said he loved us all and missed us badly. The adoring crowd cheered loudly so he could hear it.
The theme of the huge parade down Baltimore Avenue was "Saluting the 12th Man". 36 Roosts participated and the effort they put into it was amazing.
The first place Open float division (non-theme) was a huge pirate ship.
The first place Novelty division (non-theme) was a huge marching band with neon colored blow up musical instruments.
The first place float-theme division was a vertical, 3 sided Map of the US showing all the away trips attended by Ravens Fans. It was pulled by a purple Ravens bus with 20 foot airplane wings and a tail fin. The 3 sided map folded down into a football field complete with stands and cheering fans.
The winner of the Arthur B. Modell Award (best in show) depicted the team entrance on the field at M&T. It featured the stands and fans of Sect 532. Smoke issued from the player entrance. Four red-eyed Ravens birds rotated in their nests and the Goodyear blimp hovered overhead.
The weather was great thru Saturday and everybody partied, played volleyball , horseshoes, etc. Of course a lot of fun was had by the Roosts in their hospitality rooms and the Nests at their Rave.
'Twas a great weekend to be a Ravens fan! :jester:
