LATROBE, Pa. (AP) -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger left practice early Wednesday with an injury to the thumb on his throwing hand.
Crap, you need that for the front brake.

Aahhhh yes,
the human thumb . . .
"fully opposable to the tips of the fingers in that it may position itself, and be folded inward, toward the rest of the hand and fingers, if so required. It rotates at the carpometacarpal joint and so can complete the sometimes quite delicate task of grasping objects by pressing them against the rest of the hand or finger(s)."
very necessary . . .
unless of course
you are the coach and have a fully opposable chin which handles all of the same functions . . . :187734:

The thumb also keeps the cheeseburger from falling out of your hand.

Steelers | Injury update: B. Roethlisberger
Thu, 17 Aug 2006 10:36:48 -0700
ESPN.com reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger's (thumb) thumb injury apparently is not serious and he could play Saturday night, Aug. 19, against the Minnesota Vikings. He suffered a ligament strain. at practice Wednesday, Aug. 16. Head coach Bill Cowher said it was difficult to tell on video tape how the injury occurred. He was held out of practice Thursday, Aug. 17, and the team will decide Friday, Aug. 18, if he will play Saturday in the second of the Steelers' four preseason games. "He feels better today than he did yesterday," Cowher said Thursday. "We'll see how he feels tomorrow. If he feels OK tomorrow, he'll play Saturday. There's no indication we have to do any kind of tests or anything."
Looks like its not too serious if he could start a preseason game Saturday. This is good, maybe we can finally have him start a game at M&T Bank.

I was thinking the same thing: Who the hell invited Burgh? Wouldn't you rather spend some time with your "yinz" and talk about the 70s? :D
Just put him on your ignore list. I have a feeling he will misbehave soon enough and will be gone before he knows it.

Welcome Kev...didn't get a chance to say hello last night at the game.
