Jaws has been removed from the booth for MNF, leaving Tirico (who is a good play by play guy) and Chucky who is absolutely worthless in that forum...

Jaws was the only one who spoke intelligently about the game.

Jaws out? That stinks. Could be worse though. I thought you were gonna say they were replacing everybody with a Dennis Miller / Dan Dierdorf / Tony Kornheiser combo.

It's definitely a step in the wrong direction. Chucky had better turn it down about eleven notches or it really will be unwatchable.

I think the ESPN plan is to use Jaws in a broader way and expand his presence on other NFL-related shows. With MNF, he was limited to to booth once a week. Hopefully this means more Jaws, not less - just not on MNF.

Figures they'd get rid of the wrong guy. Now it will be one big lovefest every game.

This is very disappointing. Gruden is the 'sexy' pick, and Jaws is the 'intelligent' pick. I guess ESPN is going the glamorous route rather than the informative route. Get ready for "the greatest ____ in the history of the NFL" at least once a week.

Except the only programs I watch on that terrible network are the actual sporting events. I refuse to listen to their "analysts" talk out of their collective A**es

Well, maybe that's part of the reason they are moving the intelligent analyst into other shows - so guys like you will perhaps watch what you wouldn't have watched otherwise.

Hopefully they dump Keyshawn and Carter, two of the biggest idiots on TV, followed closely by Berman...

I saw the headline on Yahoo, and I got excited. I thought for sure they were letting Chucky go, then I opened the article. Really ESPN, really ? Chucky is terrible, and I really like Jaws, have since he played. Man, watching MNF this year is going to be painful.

PFT made a guess that Dilfer could be Jaws' replacement on MNF. That'd be a good move, IMO.

And if you were a mediocre to solid NFL player Gruden would love you to the extreme.

I don't have a problem with him either...at least he KNOWS football unlike some of their past announcers...

They are guessing wrong. ESPN made it pretty clear that they were going to a two-man booth in Tirico and Gruden.

ESPN could - and has! - done far worse than Gruden, who is a likeable guy on-air if he would just tone it down a little. Just once I'd like him to admit that a player is only the second best at his position in the entire history of the NFL. :) He was a head coach in the NFL so he's not ignorant about football. He just has to present a more balanced view when he's announcing.

My problem with this is not Gruden's presence, but Jaworski's absence. I liked Jaworski's commentary and I'm annoyed that ESPN has removed him. The broadcast will suffer because of it. Jaworski wasn't just "entertainment". I learned things about football when he had something to say, and I don't have time to watch the analysis shows.

Probably why Jaws was removed was because he couldn't get a word in edgewise anyway!

I liked Jaws, he was reasonable and honest. Chucky says everyone is great, it's overblown.

Gruden does get overly zealous, but I get a huge bang out of him. He always makes me smile, and he's no dummy about what's going on out on the field, IMO anyway. I'm glad he'll still be there.
