Can't stand "Malice in his heart" Carey.
Carey has been better towards us since that incident. Suggs always gives him shit before the game. Yeah old man Winter does not like Baltimore.
Here come the bashers.
Never mind the fact it was Suggs fault. That won't stop folks from blaming Carey for the whole blow up.
Personally, I don't think you could ask for a better crew.
Give the Mike Carey memes a rest.
Carey is consistently one of the best refs in the league. I thought the Ravens behaved like total douche bags in that Lions game and deserved worse that what they got from the refs. Got no problem with Carey citing "malice in his heart" as part of a penalty.
:ref:
Let me get this straight... you have no problem with a professional NFL Head Referee citing the reason for a player's ejection as "came at me with malice in his heart."
It sounds like a joke and it was. Sure throw him out but don't add all the drama and theatrics. Mike Carey loves to put on a show every time he turns on his mic.
Refs won't matter game will leave no doubt we are for real.

It's a playoff game at home against a rookie QB, right after the face of our franchise announced he was retiring.
If the ref crew, considering it is among the best in the league since it's been chosen for the playoffs, ends up deciding things, we'll have already failed.
Not making excuses for the Ravens behavior in that 2005 game. The team did lack discipline, but the whole thing started after a few very questionable calls, most notably an obvious incomplete pass that was ruled a fumble and a Lions TD. Hardly a professional job by the refs that day. Mike Carey showed his immaturity as well, and he is always involved in some kind of controversial call. I think he is a terrible ref.
Had a look at his wikipedia
Way offtopic but I would never have thought he was 62!
The one I was really worried about was Carl Cheffers (not sure if i spelled that right).
I see there are some posters who as usual take the contrarian view. As Maximus said the Ravens don't deserve to be defended but the refs including Mike Carey were beyond awful in that game. The call were Suggs went off was based on Sizzle being flipped on his head and being called for roughing the passer because his feet touched Joey Harrington in the chest. That was a joke. Kemo was called for unsportsmanlike conduct because of a gesture towards the fans when he was on the sideline on the bench. While the gesture was uncalled for, interaction between the players and fans goes on every week. The refs were looking to make an issue with the Ravens that day.
Put it this way the refs in the Giants game a few weeks ago were stellar compared to Carey and his crew that day. In fairness Mike and his crew have done a good job for the last several years.
I don't care how bad the calls were (and they were not bad calls), you don't touch the ref. Period.
Suggs only had himself to blame and even he said so afterwards.
I'm glad we got Carey. I think he's one of the better refs. That whole Lions thing was ages ago when Billick was here. That's ancient history as far as I'm concerned.
What is the "hochuili bonus"?
Is this the first time that they're mixing up the crews? I don't think these guys have ever worked together before...
Hmm,that list has changed since they put it up the other day.
We had HL Derick Bowers and the Skins had Dana McKenzie but it looks like they switched them because of the run in McKenzie had with DeAngelo Hall earlier this year.
I would love to see the numbers on our Win - Loss record with Ron Winter's crew.
It seems any time we have his crew, our penalties go up and we lose!
