I hope to GOD that the Ravens force him to be a passer. The kid threw 5 incompletions last week. One of which was a TD pass that Crabtree couldn't get his feet down on.
The kid can flat-out throw the football.

No doubt. Like I said though almost all of the throws I have seen him make have been frozen rope types. If I am the Raven DC, I make him show me touch and deep accuracy on arching balls, and try to undercut and stay under. Also, I want to see if he can make multiple reads and figure out the zone blitz schemes that have given the young QB's problems for years.

At first he really struggled with touch throws. But since the playoffs started he's thrown some nice touch passes. The 40 yard catch and run to Gore vs. GB.
The PA pass to Vernon vs. ATL.

luck has to throw 60 times a game bc he doesnt have a running game
Re: how do we stop 49ers vaunted pistol offense?
Peyton Manning 2x, Brady 2x, Eli Manning, RG3 the Ravens have faced a murderer's row of QB's this season so from a passing standpoint Kaepernick doesn't present anything they haven't seen before.
Obviously his legs present a challenge they've only seen once in RG3 and in practice with Dixon so I expect him to make some plays earlier in the game but (hopefully) as the defense gets adjusted they slow him down.
But I'd love to see him get cute and test Reed deep, it'll be a happy homecoming for Ed if he does.

Perhaps, but this Raven defense that we will see in the SB will be nothing like what SF has seen so far in the playoffs. I do not expect many blown coverages or missed tackles, or big plays. The Ravens have not played an attack like this so far in the playoffs, but obviously they have been playing well defensively vs elite competition without crowd help for the pass rush.
In the SB, with a lot of crowd noise on 3rd down, I expect the raven pass rush to get off and do a lot of damage. They have been getting to QBs with a lot different guys and getting a lot of tipped passes on good contain rush inside.
To me, like it has been all post season long, the Ravens are going to go as far as Joe and the O take them. This defense is going to keep them in the game vs anyone, but it is going to be on the O to get into the 20s at least to keep up with the high powered attacks on the other side.

Chykie Brown's play recently concerns me.
Re: how do we stop 49ers vaunted pistol offense?
All those yards that he ran for against the packers were free runs. He only had 3 yards after contact in that game. Upshaw, Pollard, Suggs, and company just need lay the wood on that kid a couple times and we good. Make him beat us with his arm and we might just run away with the game.

This was my biggest complaint about the GB game... they didn't pop him... hell I'd pop him early in the game IN the pocket knowing I'd get a 15yarder just to let him know... don't try that running sh*t.

Yep everyone saw what happened to the Patriots. They grew alligator arms in the 2nd half.

And this stupid piece doesn't consider that plus we had all those guys still out on D for Skins game but they came
back in time for the POs and we still took the Skins to OT and should have beat em. In fact Ngata knocked RG
out of the game and we got beat by a back up QB. RG wasn't even there in the end so this point is moot.

To be fair the Patriots are the definition of a finesse team.
I feel like you guys are so familiar with their scheme and what they try to do offensively, that it's easier to pin the ears back and just hit everything that moves.
Like that hit on Ridley! WOOOOOOOOW! homie looked like he got shot!

Not many, but judging by this list there's some.
The Packers, Broncos, Falcons, and Colts. I would all consider finesse groups. Not to mention the aforementioned Pats.

sterling sharpe on playbook said that 49ers run mostly to the right and pass mostly to the left side...FILMSTUDY can you please give some input on this? TIA

Suggs is looking healthier, Kruger is hot. Upshaw provides depth now outside. Reed is willing to hit, Pollard is hitting like Ray Lewis used to. Williams and Grahm have been very solid recently and Brown and Smith have had solid games when teams had in extra wrs. Defense has always been more about players than schemes, guys that get off blocks and make tackles can make any scheme work.
As far as the pistol or any kind of option look, the how to questions seem like highschool math and coaching schemes. It has been the blocking and bad tackling that let SF run thier way to the SB with thier QB.
If the guy who the offense turns loose attacks the QB with the ferocity of Clowney on that poor rb from Michagan, they are not going to run it again all day, I promise you. I love football now the way I do because of freshman year football practicing defense vs the option. The coaches just telling me it is my job to hit the QB as hard as can and the offense is not even going to try to block me. Are you kidding me? It seemed like the worst scheme you could draw up. The QB did not ever get right up after those collisions. The coaches told me that the only time they want me to tackle the dive man is if I take the QB with me, which I pretty much was able to do any time an opposing team was foolish enough to run options to my side and leave me unblocked. Obviously not everyone plays it that way, and the optioned guy often just stands there and does exactly what the offense wants you to do, or they take the bait and QB walks around the corner for a big gain. If you do not take advantage of the free shot they are giving you, on the starting QB, the franchise, and do not make him pay a heavy price the first time and every time he runs at an unblocked guy, and you do not take it, then you do not deserve to be in the SB or to win it.
I think the Ravens will be ready to defend the sprint option or any scheme you can dream up, because right now they are very hard to block, and they are tackling like Ray Lewis would tackle, pretty much every time recently.
SF does have an awesome offense though so this is going to be quite a challenge. I think it will be a much more conventional attack though, power run, playaction with them hoping to only have the QB run on scrambles.
This.
The only problem as I see it is, will they call a penalty on a normal football play. The only way to defend an option is to tackle the QB. But, this is the new "kinder gentler" NFL so who knows.

Ravens D has held Luck, Manning and Brady to ONE TD in the 2nd half of games TOTAL. NE and DENVER the 2 highest scoring teams in NFL AND AT HOME. Ravens are SMART DEFENSIVELY with Lewis, Suggs, Reed and Pollard. Expect FG's. Ravens have had 2 weeks to prepare for him, no team has had that and faced RG3 pistol offense and Luck as well recently.
