Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...ne-in-oakland/

He'd be a great fit in the Ravens' D, IMO.

Seems like kind of a knuckle head off the field, but those gun charges were dropped. Doesn't mean he didn't do it though.

I doubt it happens, but it is an interesting speculation. Thoughts?

You know how much I love those bama guys, but realistically, I just don't think we have the cap room to sign anyone right now, especially the likes of Rolando McClain.

Another first round LB down the drain.

Yea, but this guy was REALLY good up until this year. I still think he'd be an ideal 3-4 ILB. He is everything the Ravens wanted in Dont'a Hightower, but with better speed and quickness.

Well we've seen some guys come here and really explode who were lackluster- to- average thought of players. Who knows if he'd even make it through waivers though.

There are a lot of teams right now who could really use an inside linebacker.

Dallas, Miami, Minnesota, Green Bay...I could see several teams making a play for him.

Man, Oakland can do that to you. Just ask Randy Moss.

I guess the Raiders didn't stop being a trainwreck when Al passed away after all.

That said, there's seems to be a lot of mystery about what this is all about. First, McClain seemed to indicate that he was gone, then back off saying he was just mentally done with Oakland, then he deleted the whole thing.

Regardless, the guy is due close to $10M over the next 2 years, so - if he's actually released - I doubt anyone puts a waiver claim on him. If so, he'll be a FA.

Don't know what some of you have been seeing, but even on a crappy team, Rolando has been having a solid year, especially as a run defender.

I'd like to give him a look, if he turns out to be starter material than that means one less area of necessity going into the draft.

I really haven't watched too many Oakland games. I was just going by what I've been reading.

Like others have pointed out on here, I'm not entirely sure that Dennis Allen is interested in trying to maintain guys from the former "regime".

Love to have him. Can't afford him.

Everything I've read and heard about him from people who do watch most of Oakland's games has been that he isn't having a good year.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

    FWIW.....

    Jason La Canfora‏@JasonLaCanfora
Rolando McClain and Raiders Coach Dennis Allen had a heated exchange early in practice I'm told. Ended with McClain booted from field...

    Jason La Canfora‏@JasonLaCanfora
which explains his Tweets and the fallout. Allen has said he is not sure if McClain will be allowed to practice Thurs. no further comment

Yeah I'd take him. Would've taken Babin too but he didn't even make it down to us. Doubt McLain will either.

This I'd love to get McClain but I don't see it being possible.

You wouldnt have wanted Babin. Hes a 4-3 DE, only succeeds in the 9-technique. Hes a one trick pony and sucks against the run and the pass.

Would be an upgrade over our McClain, so yes absolutely interested. Will it happen? No, unfortunately. He's only 23 too
