Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
Seriously, anytime anyone is ever cut, released, or available I know dollars to donuts there will be a thread on it here no matter HOW improbable the signing.

Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
Babin was a stretch and a horrible idea for us at that.
Rolando McClain, maybe... hes a great idea however with all of these teams needing linebacking help - not so sure if he'll pass waivers... his contract is hefty though.
I still cannot for the life of me figure out why EJ Henderson is not on anyones radar or a team for that matter.
He had over 100 tackles last season, 2 sacks and 3 FF. Hes only 32... W T F?

Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
Would you rather pay ~6 million next year for Ray or 10 million for Rolando?
I could see it possibly working out... we pay 10 million and have him the rest of this year and next. He had 5 sacks, ~100 tackles, 14 PDef last season. We cut our current McClain, give his contract to Dannell Ellerbe(something like a 2 year 7 million). Thatd be a pretty solid LB core.
Rolando's only 23 as well.

Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
The only way Ray isn't on the roster next year is if he retires. Personally speaking, I'd rather have neither scenarios. Both players are not worth that much. I'd argue that no ILB is worth 6-10 million dollars in todays league unless their name is Patrick Willis, Brian Cushing, or Novoro Bowman.
However, a young Ray Lewis is probably worth as much as a top flight QB, he was that good.

EJ Henderson is a 2 down linebacker. He isnt fast enough to cover anymore and he has a pretty large list of injuries.
I had hope the Ravens would have considered him back in August, but I understand why they didnt. Erin Henderson was available as well.

Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
I would take him if given the chance. The kid can play and I think if you surround him with veteran leadership in the locker room and have a stable organization around him he will flourish.

Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
Sounds more like Rolando McClain wants to part ways with the Raiders. I'm not so sure they are going to do anything in season

Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
No way anyone signs a "headcase" with that contract. Though the Raiders would LOVE it if someone claimed him

Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
It's not going to happen unless he clears waivers. Even then, I really doubt it.

Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
First, they have to cut him. Then, there is NO WAY he gets through waivers. We are close to the bottom of the list... and with bumbling teams like Dallas, Cleveland, Buf, Jets, Jags, TB, SD, KC, Redskins, Rams, Cards, etc... there is no way one of those crappy teams would not pick him up.

jesus christ I would love to him here, he was beast at Bama!
"It's like a rerun ... Everybody knows how this story ends, with us and the Steelers. It's about time we changed it, and give people something new. Right now, it's kind of like we pride ourselves on being a bully, but they're the ones that keep knocking us out of the playoffs. So they're the bully. One day you just got to say '[screw] it' and punch the bully totally in his mouth. Then they won't bully you any more." T-Sizzle

Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
I have to couple this news with Aaron Curry being released.
It is starting to smell like a locker room/ management power play going on.
I saw Schottenheimer do it in Washington
Haley do it in Denver
Some decent players with tread on the tires surfaced for free to other teams, and some traded.
Now I get the impression that since Oakland has train-wrecked, the hack and wack has started
Just guessing though.... no idea of the details except what I've seen mentioned here, I'll be reading what I canHeinz Field Ketchup official ketchup of the Ravens?

Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
He would be if it weren't for the contract we gave Jameel, as it sits, I can't see them both being on the field at the same time at any point.
On scout, someone posted a statistical breakdown a raiders fan did based on PFF stats that painted Rolando as amongst the very best LBers in the loeague against the run, and amongst the very worsst LB'ers in the league agaisnt hte pass. that basically mirrors what i have seen watching him, the limited ammount that I have.

Re: Raiders parting ways with Rolando McClain?
The money he is due, might actually lend itself to escorting him clear through waivers.
