Re: Disgraceful
I walked away from this game with two thoughts:
(1) I found myself thinking that the Steelers offense was both more creative and more dynamic than ours. Misdirection plays, WR screens, crossing routes nearly every play, it was beautiful to see. Then our offense would trot out and try to execute a gameplan consisting of hail marys and dump offs. The contrast was startling. This would normally be discouraging, but the fact that their offense was operating at around 50% capacity because of Ben's injury and still clearly outclassing ours from a strategic standpoint was downright depressing.
(2) I was genuinely surprised to see that Rice had 12 carries. It seemed to me like he got more touches than that in the flow of the game. He had 70some yards, 30some coming on the touchdown run, so his average was good enough to keep feeding him and keep the defense on their toes to open up passing lanes. Did this happen? For the umpteenth time, the answer is a resounding NO.
In summary, the offense really played a shit game on top of a shit gameplan. The defense played about how we could fairly expect them to play, well enough to win the game in my opinion. It's harder and harder to win with defense in the NFL and the 2012 Ravens are certainly not going to win on the backs of the defense alone. Unfortunately, the offense still does not look ready to step up and take the reins.Long days and pleasant nights.

Re: Disgraceful
I originally started this reply, "A lot depends on what happens tonight." But after further review, probably not a lot. Both of those teams will still have something important to play for when the Ravens play them, as will Denver. (Cincy might not, but when has that ever mattered when facing an AFCN rival?)
Right now I think the chances are better than 50% that the number of wins the Ravens have left is zero. I keep asking someone, anyone to post specific reasons why they expect them to win any one of the remaining games & the silence is deafening.

Re: Disgraceful
The Steelers have a top 5 defense. Not excusing the poor gameplan by the Ravens, or the lack of execution by the players, but Pittsburgh will make a look of good offenses look bad. Look at what they did to the Giants in the Meadowlands, look at what they did to RG3 a few weeks ago...the Browns got 8 (eight!!!) turnovers and still barely won the game.
The remaining 4 opponents have defenses ranging from pretty good (Giants and Broncos) to average (Bengals) to downright pedestrian (Redskins).
If the Ravens play well on offense, they have a decent shot of winning any of their remaining games. If they play like they did last night, the result will be the same.

Re: Disgraceful
Agree basically with all of the posters, here; however, I really fault our freakin Defense First - Charlie Batch should have been pressured from the gitgo last night, and the team chose (or was unable) to let him do his thing....UNACCEPTABLE! When was the last time this team played like "53 Mighty Men"?!?! And I am tired of hearing the ol' Harbs coachspeak about he liked the way this team competed - NOT!!
And while I am in my bitching mode, why the hell doesn't the Ravens organization (and this includes you Mr. Bisciotti) do something about the lack of port-a-potties at the the tailgate spots - totally unacceptable when you have people urinating in public, which happens at every home game. FedEx field is loaded with such facilities.

Re: Disgraceful
Putting all rivalry feelings aside, this was an emotional game for them. They had lost the last 3 games against us, a loss would have probably meant the end of their season, they were coming in with their 3rd string QB and hearing all week how they wouldn't/couldn't beat us. That can be pretty emotional after a big win even for big, burly football guys. We are all human first. I realize we are angry and want to lash out at everyone and everything but I take nothing away from them...they played with more heart and urgency than our team did. We just have to suck it up and move on.

Re: Disgraceful
This game was played with no emotion and horrible game plan and bad execution. I'm still trying to figure out how the Steeler WR's were so wide open almost all night. Most of Batch's yards were completed to WR's that did not have a defender within 5-10 yards sometimes even more. I seen a horrible pass rush with 0 creative blitzes and almost ever DB staring in the back field like it was some kind of INT derby while WR/TE's ran wide open.
What can I say about the O, hum... Cam strikes again and Joe looked like he smoked a fatty before the game.
Start the Goats list:
Joe (You have not had more than 4 seconds in the pocket all year and you magically think that Dick is not going to send the dogs with the game on the line and you throwing pig skin around like pork rinds at a hill billy cook off; hey Joe lay off the Baltimore Brownies Bro, they have special ingredients.
Cam (What can I really say, same old shit just another Sunday; the FO will keep you around though so no need to feel threatened)
Harbs (Hey John call the NFL and challenge the win, you'll have a better shot then winning that non-fumble/forward pass by Batch)
DB's (We know Charlie is old you don't have to keep staring in the back field waiting for him to have a stroke while the WR's run freely; If you just played your position and stayed with the WR's he would have thrown you a duck)
Pass Rush (it was a make shift OL, you guys played better in the 5th quarter on the road in SD)
Jamel McClain (how did we pay this guy decent $, he clearly is over matched in the middle and the inside was missing Ellerbe in a bad way, I certainly hope that when Ray comes back they clearly see that Ellerbe should be in)
Hero's:
Ray Rice (with is limited roll was effective)
Leach
Honorable:
Pierce was even popping big gainers.
