Re: New draft/FA/offseason thread
With a low tender on Dickson, anyone signing him would give us a 3rd rounder (since that is the 2010 round in which Ed was drafted).
The Rams could use a TE and with 2 1st rounders, the impact of trading away a 3rd is lessened.
Of course, they could just go ahead a draft Eifert or Fauria in the 2nd.
KC could also use a better target for Geno Smith...especially with their crappy #2 WR production, #1 TE's injury history, and the prospect of not re-signing Bowe. Their 2nd round pick could go to Woods, Hunter, Patterson, whomever. A better move than taking Eifert or Fauria IMO

Re: New draft/FA/offseason thread
Ozzie has a HUGE offseason to deal with when this season over.
Depth is a huge...HUGE problem.Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Re: New draft/FA/offseason thread
Agreed. This team has too many bloated contracts for players who aren't doing squat, particularly guys over the age of 30. Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Matt Birk, Anquan Boldin... all should be gone. Ngata has a huge contract he's not living up to. Suggs only gets more expensive in the last few years of his deal. Not suggesting Ngata and Suggs should be gone but their contracts might need a looking at.
They need to free up a lot of money and make a lot of aggressive moves to rebuild this team. The Flacco contract situation is just impossible to even think about... what are they gonna do for this guy? Do they even WANT to move forward with him? I don't know. I don't want the Ravens to take a chance on something uncertain in the draft, but I just don't know anymore.

Re: New draft/FA/offseason thread
I really think they clean house next year, franchise Flacco, and try to restock in the draft. We have to many holes
to fill. Could be a down year next year. I hate to say it, but I think this is all your going to get out of Flacco.

Re: New draft/FA/offseason thread
I agree 100%
The Ravens are going to have some tough choices to make regarding personnel. Ozzie made some a couple years ago and I have faith he will again.
Most important of all they need to have a more productive draft. I tend to agree with WickedSolo that even though we have many holes to fill, we need to move up and get a impact player on either the Oline or Dline. That is a must IMO. This team is losing in the trenches and thats the FIRST thing that needs to be fixed.“A linebacker's job is to knock out running backs, to knock out receivers, to chase the football,”

Re: New draft/FA/offseason thread
The team is really over a barrel here. It'd be nice to have the luxury of evaluating Flacco for a year in a new offensive system, but you only get that with the tag and that's 14 million off your cap. Is Flacco worth that? I don't know anymore.
At this point, Flacco's contract should look like Matt Schaub's... 5 years, 66 million. No more than that, IMO. But do you even want to commit that much? I gotta say, maybe I'm overreacting to this last game, but I am losing my faith in Flacco VERY quickly.
I dunno. There aren't any day 1 starters in the draft or free agency, so the team's hands may be tied.

Would SD be open to any offers for Philip Rivers by any chance?

Re: New draft/FA/offseason thread
Yes, I agree. Flacco isn't even worth the tag, it'll just screw us for next season. I don't think you're going to get much more out of Flacco, the guy will be 28 in January. I don't know what they do, it's very disheartening. The defense has gone to hell and a lot of the guys that are getting these big pay days are either over the hill or not playing up to it. I truly believe they have many tough decisions. The front 7 lacks speed, that HAS to change. Cary Williams should be gone. Today sealed it for me, he's just average and gets owned by precise route runners and he gave up on a play today which he's done throughout the season. Ellerbe and Kruger are two players I like, but I'd only bring them back for a deal that is worth their value. The OL is in shambles too...
Going to be a long offseason...

Re: New draft/FA/offseason thread
You can bring in ANY QB you want but unless you fix the Oline and fix the Dline they are not going to be successful
Yea its a QB driven league but at the end of the day the game is still won and lost in the trenches. No matter how much the game changes that remains a constant. You can get away with so-so but right now both of our lines are just poor IMO.“A linebacker's job is to knock out running backs, to knock out receivers, to chase the football,”
