THE OFFICIAL Ravens - Giants Prediction Thread

Alright.. I'm all doom-and-glomed out. And I think we have a shot at shutting up a lot of people on Sunday. I think you'll see better line play and Joe will have his head on straight for a change.

I think the key to this game is containing Victor Cruz. We can't let Cruz do what Decker did on Sunday and expect to win. Atlanta played a lot of press coverage and also double-covered Cruz down field. They took away the Giants #1 big play threat and from there the G-Men were toast. Cruz had a paltry 15 yards on 3 catches.

The Giants have lost at home to Pittsburgh and got spanked at Cincy.

    Our turn...

    Ravens 31
    Giants 27

    28 -13 Giants.

This team with current guys on the field, looks to have given up.

I have never predicted a Raven loss and I won't start now. But I don't feel good about this game.

It's a MUST WIN for the Giants and they usually find a way. However their offense has just not been the same for most of this year and their D is struggling to get pressure. Maybe Flacco and crew will wake up...

For all the talk of little bro' Manning being elite, he has not had a good several weeks. Their D line has a lot in the way of reputation but hasn't been nearly as dominant as it should be on paper and the D backs are thin. If the Ravens offense can get it's collective head out of its ass, and the D plays like it did to begin the game against Denver, this could be a game that the Ravens win solidly.

    20-16 Ravens

    or

    31-17 Giants

Nothing in between, one or the other.

I fear Flacco will be on his ass a lot more than he was against the Broncos. There's no way Flacco will stay protected with his horrible Oline going up against the Giants pass rush. IF the Ravens are to win another regular season game, their best chance is def against Cinci, and even that will be a huge task. Face it, the injury bug and pathetic O line killed this season.

Same prediction as last week (I just changed the team names...):

If "good Joe" shows up, and Caldwell can make some effective tweaks to Cameron's offense:
    Ravens 38
    Giants 35

If "bad Joe" shows up, and they turn the ball over multiple times (see Broncos game, Redskins game second half):
    Ravens 17
    Giants 35

The defense remains a non-factor. Winning is all on the offense (a special teams play or 2 wouldn't hurt, either).

We don't even know who among our many injured are going to start or play yet.
But assuming who I think it will be/not be...
    I'm going 24 -13.

    Giants

For one thing, I suspect that some of our offensive players have started to quit on both this season and on Harbaugh.

The Giants have as many issues as we do. I just cannot see this team losing 4 in a row, with three of them being at home.

I dunno. Eli Manning can be a streaky QB, not nearly as consistent as his brother. In fact, Joe Flacco is kinda like Eli except without: a) Kevin Gilbride, and b) Super Bowl rings. Not that Gilbride is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but when comparing him against Cam (or Caldwell)...

Because I'm normally pretty bad at predictions, I'll say:

    Giants 24
    Ravens 20

Here's hoping I'm wrong once again.

If you look at all of the offensive and defensive comparisons, these teams are nearly identical. Even Flacco and Eli have almost the exact same stats. Hopefully that home field advantage comes back this Sunday.

The Fan just had Dave Klein on who's been following/writing about the Giants for 50 years now and he couldn't be more down on the team. It's funny how everything he said mirrors our situation, "This team looks like they've given up", "The offensive line is horrible". He even said the guys that are infamously known as quarterback hunters have been making average Olineman look pretty good.

Yea, but we don't even have average Olinemen. I just don't see the Ravens winning another game this year. When flacco has been given time the last few weeks (which isn't often) many of his throws are off the mark. I'm not sure why his passes are sailing, but perhaps (as Mike Preston said) he's throwing off his back foot and not stepping into them. Of course, when you've been facing the pressure he has the last few weeks, its easy to speed everything up in your head and lose your mechanics. If I had Oher protecting my blind side, I'd be nervous on every pass play.
