Re: Black Monday
Sanchez doesn't have an arm strong enough to be effective in a dink and dunk offense let alone the AC offense under Norv lol.

I don't think the jets, but I agree Dallas might not be on his mind. I would think Dallas is just looking for a front man to run Garrett's offense. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I think Flacco is intriguing to Norv. Big arm, already gone through the growing pain years, doesn't choke in the clutch, and he only has to improve upon what is mostly in place. If he can get Streeter up to speed, or draft a big body receiver, he's set."Only the mediocre are always at their best."

Re: Black Monday
There are a lot of possibilities for a guy like Norv.
Keep in mind guys:
The Browns, Eagles, Bears, Chargers, and now the Jags do not have HC's. It is probable that they are all waiting for a coordinator to be freed up from the playoffs.
Josh McDaniel, Mike McCoy, Rick Dennison, Wade Phillips, Greg Roman, Tom Clements...hell...maybe even Jim Caldwell.
Mike McCoy and Greg Roman seem like they're definitely going to be hired as HC's somewhere. It is possible that Norv (who may like being in California) would rather go back to San Fran and work as a OC there. Or, perhaps he would want to go to Denver and work with Peyton. I'm sure the Ravens are a possibility, but I'm just saying that there are a ton of moving parts right now. Furthermore, Jay Gruden may get hired away as could Todd Haley. Norv could go a lot of places and run an offense. When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

Re: Black Monday
Cowboys targeting Monte Kiffin for their DC. I can see some reasons why; he is the anti- Rob Ryan. Doesn't want to be a HC, won't make bold statements, etc. His D is pretty basic but effective.

Re: Black Monday
Wow, really? Carolina's offense was quite unspectacular this season.
I bet that most of the candidates they targeted first didn't want to go to Cleveland. Even with a new owner, that franchise is tainted. Jimmy Haslam has his work cut out for him if he wants to turn that franchise around. When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

Re: Black Monday
Norv's perfect for Cleveland. He could carry on the tradition established by Marty...

Re: Black Monday
Well, at least he's an Ohio boy and a lifelong Browns fan. A bad franchise like that, I guess you should at least hire someone who actually cares about the team.
I seem to remember his name coming up briefly as a candidate here after Brian was canned. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else, though.

Re: Black Monday
Annnnndddd....the Browns hire Norv Turner as their offensive coordinator.
:wtf:
Why would he go there? I guess the Ravens must not have been too interested in the guy. When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

Re: Black Monday
Could be mutual. Remember, Norv said he wanted to go somewhere with coaches he was familiar with. Chud was a TE coach under Norv, they are at least partially buddies. Plus, I'm sure he'll get an AHC title and the mandate to help Chud get ready for the NFL HC pressure.
In any case, Ravens have been focused on winning playoff games, not looking for future OCs. Could be a sign that Caldwell is interested in sticking around, because we wouldn't be interviewing guys while he's doing his job
Guy to watch for us might be Whisenhunt. If the HC opportunities dry up, he'll want a high profile OC job, and we'd be a fit there. I'd still rather have Shurmur, but Whisenhunt might be an interesting possibility..
